✨4C Hair Chronicles: A Love-Hate Wash Day✨
Today was the day. I finally decided to deal with this beautiful chaos on my head. I picked up a few new products last week—including Aunt Jackie’s Elixir (not pictured)—and whew… my hair felt so light, clean, and moisturized. I was like, OKAYYY moisture! 🫶🏾
Not a paid ad, just a tired girl trying to get her hair together. 😂
But listen… why won’t my hair just cooperate? 😩
I have naturally curly 4C hair—no matter what I try, it stays stubborn. Last year, I chopped off my locs after 7 YEARS (yes, 7!). I wanted something different. I wanted to truly know my hair—no locs, no perms, no braids, no constant ponytails like I had growing up. Just raw, natural me.
So I sat down, parted my hair into four, and started detangling. Two hours. TWO. HOURS. 😩
But shoutout to Aunt Jackie’s “Knot on My Watch” because BAAAABY, my hair was KNOOOOTTTYYY. I had to pull, cut, and detangle twice before I could even braid it.
Then came wash time… the real war. 🥴
First wash? Couldn’t comb through it.
Second wash? Still tangled.
Third wash? STILL. 🤬 TANGLED. So guess what? I gave up. ✌🏾🖕🏾
I hopped in the shower, threw on some conditioner, slapped on some oil, and said, “I’m DONE.”
By the time I got out, my curls had shrunk up and I was over it.
I love my hair—don’t get it twisted—but whew, 4C hair is not for the weak!
