In my daily experience using public transportation, I've realized how crucial it is to be mindful of those around us, especially people who may have invisible medical conditions. Not all health issues are apparent—some passengers may have chronic pain, pregnancy, or disabilities that are not immediately noticeable. When I first noticed the SBS Transit campaign encouraging riders to offer their seats to those in need, it struck me as a simple yet powerful reminder of kindness. Recently, while commuting during rush hour, I saw a woman with a walking cane who was struggling to find a seat. Offering her mine made a huge difference not only to her comfort but also uplifted the mood of other passengers nearby. Such small gestures foster a caring environment in crowded spaces where respect and empathy can sometimes be forgotten. The phrase “Show You Care” isn’t just a slogan—it is an invitation to acknowledge the silent struggles of fellow commuters. By actively choosing to offer seats, especially during peak times, we promote inclusivity and compassion. It’s a personal choice that reflects our community values and awareness of unseen challenges others face daily. Whether it’s an elderly passenger, someone with a temporary injury, or a pregnant woman, our awareness and actions can make public transport a kinder place for everyone.
