Tales of being a Business owner
Of course being a business owner has it’s perks like yes I can create my own schedule, I don’t have to put in PTO for time off bc I’m the boss, I have creative freedom and I’m in charge of my own destiny.
But there are also truths behind the scenes that many don’t talk about like….
1. Discipline: It’s up to you to keep yourself disciplined with your schedule and keeping your business in order so things don’t spiral out of control. Like making sure you’re own time and also conducting yourself in a professional manner.
2. PTO: I can take days off whenever I need or want to but at this point in my business I DO NOT get PAID if I DO NOT WORK. And that goes back to discipline. You don’t have someone telling you, you’re taking too many days off. You have to hold yourself accountable for that.
3. All leg work and heavy lifting is done by me: I’m a hairstylist and my business is just getting off the ground with building clientele and working towards having available products for clients to purchase when needed so with that being said there is no assistant booking my appointments (other than using Booksy). When I’m slammed with appointments back to back, there is no help with assisting clients, recording or posting content or with client checkouts etc.
✨Don’t get me wrong I am NOT complaining. What keeps me going is reminding myself that I prayed for this and more. But I understand that to whom much is given much is required. I just wanted to shed a little light on what small business owners go through behind the scenes and everyone isn’t always built for this life.

This includes managing appointments, client relations, and marketing efforts without the support of staff. This can lead to long hours, particularly when trying to build a customer base and establish brand presence. Every business journey is unique, and while there may be struggles, sharing experiences can foster a supportive community among entrepreneurs.
