When your mind drifts away during a drive — say for about five minutes — you might not consciously register important signals such as traffic lights turning red or green. This is because your focus shifts inward, reducing your awareness of external stimuli. While fleeting moments of distraction are common, prolonged zoning out can compromise safety.
