Advice for New Artists
I believe many artsy folk at some point in time were told to “stop doodling”
Well DON’T.
Doodles are not a “waste of time”
They are drawing practice.
They keep you sharp and your hands warmed up to create your next piece of work.
PS: You can absolutely do this with paint. I’d recommend water activated paints, and always clean your tin after.

As a new artist, understanding the importance of consistent practice cannot be overstated. Practicing sketching, doodling, and drawing daily can dramatically enhance your artistic abilities over time. Embrace your creative instincts by keeping your drawing materials accessible and ready to use. Creating a portable drawing kit ensures you can sketch on-the-go, whether it’s in a cozy café or during a nature walk. You might consider assembling a simple tin box with your chosen tools: pencils, erasers, and paper. This not only keeps your materials organized but also acts as a constant reminder to doodle whenever inspiration strikes. Beyond traditional pencils, don't hesitate to explore other mediums. Water-activated paints, for example, can elevate your artwork by adding vibrancy to your sketches. Be sure to experiment with different styles and techniques to discover what resonates with your artistic vision. Additionally, networking with other artists through platforms or local art communities can provide valuable insights and support, fostering your growth as a creative. Ultimately, the journey of becoming an artist is as enriching as the destination itself, so relish every moment spent honing your craft!
