They're not just healthy and yummy, but also incredibly versatile and perfect for baby-led weaning (BLW). I remember the first time I made them; my baby's hand eagerly reached for a tot, and it was such a joy to see them explore new textures and flavors. What makes these tots so fantastic for babies? Well, tuna is a wonderful source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for brain development. Broccoli, on the other hand, is packed with vitamins and fiber, supporting healthy digestion and immunity. Combining them into an easy-to-manage tot shape means your baby gets a nutritional powerhouse in every bite! It's truly a wholesome meal that I feel good about serving. When I started making these, I focused on making sure the steamed broccoli was soft enough for tiny gums but still had some texture. I usually mash it well, but leave a few smaller pieces for my baby to explore. The recipe calls for simple ingredients like an egg and oat flour, which bind everything together beautifully without needing a ton of added salt or sugar. I also love adding a pinch of garlic powder and some finely chopped green onions for a subtle flavor boost that even my baby enjoys – it's amazing how much flavor you can pack in safely! For preparation, I find that mixing all the ingredients thoroughly until it forms a lumpy paste works best. Then, I spray my pan with olive oil cooking spray before forming the tots.
