First off, let's talk about the simplest form: banana slices for baby. When you're introducing bananas, the texture is key. For younger babies just starting solids or practicing their pincer grasp, I found that slightly ripe but firm bananas work best. Overly ripe bananas can be too mushy and slippery, posing a choking hazard. I usually cut them into quarter-inch thick rounds, and then sometimes even halve those rounds to make crescent shapes. This size is perfect for little hands to grab. You can also try mashing a small portion and letting them self-feed with a pre-loaded spoon for a different texture experience. Another fantastic way to prepare banana baby finger food is to roll the slices in something to add grip. This is where ingredients like oat flour or even finely ground unsweetened coconut flakes come in handy! Rolling the slippery banana pieces in a thin layer of oat flour makes them much easier for tiny fingers to pick up and hold. It also adds a little extra fiber and nutrition.
