October Wrap Up

1. The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TikTok made me read this and it was my favorite book this month. I loved the characters and the banter. Enemies to lovers for the win!

2. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I finally got around to reading this and now I can’t wait for the next one! I love the way the story is unfolding and all of the fan theories about what’s coming next.

3. Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is another booktok made me read it and it was definitely worth it. I loved how the magic system works in this world. There are some heavy things to think about, and depending on your Book Club this could be a great Book Club book.

4. The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve been wanting to read this for a while and it was worth the wait. Rebecca Yarros doesn’t just write about dragons. She can write real people with real stories just as well.

5. Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is one of the books for my networking group. So many good ideas inside and presented in a way that are easy and enjoyable to read, and realistically implementable.

6. Don’t Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a spooky rec for October. Definitely chaotic and unsettling.

7. Gone Before Goodbye by Reeee Witherspoon ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fun, quick thriller by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben. I enjoyed it while I read it and would love to read any more collabs between these two.

... Read moreIf you're looking to expand your October reading list, these books offer a diverse mix of genres that appeal to various tastes and interests. Starting with "The Knight and the Moth" by Rachel Gillig, it’s no surprise that TikTok trends have influenced many readers this year. The enemies-to-lovers trope combined with well-crafted characters makes it a relatable and engaging read. Stories like this often spark vibrant discussions on social media about character dynamics and relationship development. Rebecca Yarros’s works have garnered a strong following, reflected in the anticipation for the sequels to "Onyx Storm" and the emotional depth of "The Last Letter." Her ability to balance fantasy elements such as dragons with authentic human emotions offers readers a meaningful connection beyond the mythical. M.L. Wang's "Blood Over Bright Haven" introduces readers to a rich magic system that is both complex and thought-provoking. This depth tends to make it an excellent pick for book clubs, which enjoy dissecting the philosophical and ethical questions posed by fantasy narratives. For readers interested in real-life improvement, Michael Hyatt’s "Your Best Year Ever" provides practical strategies for setting and achieving goals. Its straightforward style makes it ideal for anyone looking to make tangible changes with manageable steps. On a lighter, spooky note, "Don’t Let the Forest In" by C.G. Drews caters to fans of chaotic and unsettling stories, perfect to match October's Halloween spirit. Lastly, the thriller "Gone Before Goodbye," co-written by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben, offers a gripping, quick-paced read that fans of collaborative thrillers will find irresistible. The book mixes suspense with emotional storytelling, often leading readers to eagerly wait for future collaborations. Incorporating this mix of fantasy, self-help, thrillers, and character-driven stories can provide a well-rounded reading experience whether you're exploring magic systems, unraveling mysteries, or seeking personal growth. Each book here has sparked conversations and interest, making them excellent picks for your next book discussion or solo reading adventure.
