why i went back to work in coffee....

hi my lil 🍋s

when i was in college i worked part time as a barista. being a barista was the only time i ever felt an escape from the world around me; i love the aspect of making peoples day & connecting with those in the community.

with my declining health last year, and never feeling fully satisfied in my job- I decided to switch my career to a hobby, and my hobby to a career. with all of my community driven jobs, i knew going back to coffee in a more professional sense would allow me to feel contributive to the space around me and being a safe place in my community.

since then i've worked my way up in a locally owned shop, now working as a manager & helping to expand to a new store- ALL WHILE, I'm in the depths of buisness planning & starting my very own coffee realted buisness.

i thank god for this chance ❤️

follow along with me through my life as an entrepreneur, dog mom, chronically ill, and boss lady- i can't wait to build this community with you!

... Read moreReturning to the world of coffee after a break wasn't just a career move for me; it was a profound shift that reignited my passion and brought back a sense of purpose. For anyone considering a similar path, or simply wondering what makes coffee shop work so appealing, let me share a bit more about my journey and insights. My initial experience as a barista in college was truly an escape. There's a unique magic in crafting drinks and connecting with people, making their day one cup at a time. This passion for coffee never truly left me, even as I pursued other careers. When health challenges forced me to re-evaluate, the call of the coffee shop became undeniable. It wasn't just about 'going back to coffee'; it was about finding a space where I felt genuinely contributive and where I could build a community, much like the vibrant energy around a 'CERVANTESCOFFEE' shop. If you're thinking about a career change into coffee, especially looking for 'coffee shops near me to work at,' my advice is to seek out places that prioritize community and craft. It’s not just about making lattes; it’s about understanding the beans, the brewing process, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. I found that my dedication to learning and connecting with customers helped me work my way up from barista to manager. This progression wasn't easy; it required late nights, early mornings, and a constant drive, but being 'fueled by coffee' took on a whole new meaning for me – it became about the energy and inspiration the industry provided. Maintaining well-being through this demanding work is crucial. I learned to embrace self-care, understanding that sometimes you just need to 'take ur meds' or take a moment to breathe. It’s about creating a work environment that rejects the unrealistic expectations of 'DIET CULTURE SUCKS' and instead fosters genuine connection and support. I often jotted down new recipes, customer interactions, and business ideas in a journal, much like a '33 CUPS OF COFFEE' journal, which helped me stay organized and inspired. Now, as I plan my own coffee-related business, the entrepreneurial journey feels exhilarating and terrifying all at once. It’s a natural extension of my 'passion for coffee' and my desire to create a safe, vibrant space. The journey from a college barista gig to managing a shop and now launching my own venture has been incredibly fulfilling. It shows that 'coffee shop work' isn't just a temporary job; it can be a rewarding career path, full of growth, community, and endless possibilities for those who truly love it.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m living in a coastal town with warm weather. This means that the fall outfits need to be creative, otherwise you’ll sweat right through them. These red gingham pants are one of my favorite pieces for fall and they remind me of an Apple orchard. The material is stretchy and
