Making the Most of Local Festivals & Carnivals:
My trip to the Winchester Apple Blossom Festival carnival was a blast! To truly enjoy local festivals, I always recommend checking the schedule online beforehand. Look for unique attractions, live music, or specific events you don't want to miss. We usually set a budget for games and treats – it's so easy to get carried away! Don't forget comfy shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking. And speaking of games, that little yellow duck plush toy we won definitely made our day! It's those small victories that add to the fun. Always try to go a bit earlier in the day to avoid the biggest crowds, especially if you have little ones. Hydration is key too, so bring a reusable water bottle.
Prepping for Guests: My Guest Bedroom Essentials:
Having my brother come to town for his motorcross event meant getting our guest bedroom ready. Over the years, I've learned a few things to make guests feel right at home. Beyond fresh towels, I like to put out a small basket with a few essentials: a travel-sized shampoo/conditioner, a new toothbrush, and some lotion. A bottle of water and maybe a few pre-packaged snacks like granola bars or fruit are always appreciated. I also make sure there's an extra phone charger by the bed – it's a lifesaver! A handwritten welcome note adds a personal touch. If you have Wi-Fi, writing down the password on a cute card is super helpful. I think making the space feel cozy and thought-out really shows you care.
Dog Park Diaries: Tips for a Happy Pup & Owner:
Taking my pup Lilou to the dog park for her 'laps' is a weekend ritual! If you're new to dog parks, safety first! Make sure your dog is up-to-date on vaccinations and is well-socialized. Always carry poop bags (a purple harness with a built-in dispenser is super handy!) and a water bottle for your furry friend. I also bring a small ball or frisbee for some extra play. Keep an eye on your dog's body language and be ready to intervene if things get too rough. Every dog park has its own vibe, so observe for a bit before letting your dog off-leash. It's such a great way for them to burn energy, and for you to meet other dog lovers!
Enjoying a Motorcross Event as a Spectator:
Watching my brother race at Summit Point Motorsports Park was exhilarating! If you're heading to a motorcross event, here are some tips to make it a great experience. Dress comfortably and wear layers, as trackside weather can change quickly. Ear protection is a must – those bikes are loud! I always bring a folding chair or a blanket if I know there's open seating. Binoculars can be great for catching the action across the track, and a good camera to capture those thrilling moments (maybe even a GoPro if you're lucky enough to be close to the riders!). Don't forget sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of snacks and drinks. It's a high-energy sport, and being prepared makes all the difference for a fun day out!
