5 Hospital Bag Must Haves (most lists forget)

You learn a lot from 6 births and as we prep our bag for our 7th baby I wanted to share things that make ALL the difference in your first days and nights with baby in the hospital.

1. White Noise Machine; y’all this is a game changer. Unless you enjoy hearing every freaking noise in the hallway and all the noises in the room. Having a white noise machine makes it a lot calmer inside your space; especially at night 🌙

2. Towels from home; remember the hospital isn’t a hotel and their towel game is a joke. You basically have to wrap 3-4 towels to even remotely cover your body and it’s awful. That post birth shower is life giving but man stepping out in all your post birth glory to find no real coverage from the tea towels they provide sucks. Bring your own towels to avoid this my friends. You will thank me 😍

3 Baby Booties that stay on: I don’t even mess with newborn socks; I learned my lesson. They don’t stay on, they get lost and they are just a pain. Invest in booties that snap in place. Zutano and also Burt’s Bees have amazing ones, I use these from day one to 4-6 months on average.

4. Lightweight Robe; I also always size up for more comfy vibes. Underneath I typically wear a nursing tank top and leggings/shorts that compress the belly to bring down swelling. Wearing a lightweight robe over just gives you a little confidence in your skin and also just covers everything. I say lightweight because you will already be sweaty postpartum; no need to layer on fleece or thick robes.

5. Newborn Photo Props; think long term if there’s a doll you want to use monthly milestone photos, bring that. Also you can find these cute birth signs on SHEIN 🤯🤯🤯 they are only a few bucks; don’t forget a sharpie or marker to write in their birth details.

Hope that helps you complete your list for the hospital ❤️ what’s a must have for you that most lists don’t share???

... Read morePacking your hospital bag with the right items can transform your experience. Beyond the standard necessities, consider including a white noise machine to create a calming environment in your hospital room. This simple yet effective device can help drown out hospital noises, allowing both you and your baby better rest. Also, remember to bring your own towels; hospital towels often fall short in comfort and coverage, making your post-birth showers less enjoyable. Baby booties that stay on are another essential; traditional socks tend to disappear or slide off. Opt for those with snaps from reputable brands like Zutano to ensure they stay put. A lightweight robe can enhance your comfort during your stay, allowing for easier movement and added confidence in your skin postpartum. Finally, consider including newborn photo props for capturing precious moments in the early days. From milestone markers to cute signs, these props can elevate your newborn photos. Don't forget essentials like a sharpie for writing details! With these thoughtful additions, you're setting yourself up for a more pleasant and organized hospital experience.
