My postpartum must haves

2025/5/10 Edited to

... Read moreWow, becoming a new mom is an incredible journey, but let's be real – postpartum recovery can be a shock! When I left the hospital, I quickly realized that while their supplies were handy, having my own stash of postpartum must-haves was absolutely crucial. I'm so glad I invested in these items, and honestly, they made such a difference in my comfort and healing journey. First up, that Frida Mom Upside-Down Peri Bottle? A game-changer. Seriously, if you've had stitches or just general tenderness, using toilet paper is a no-go. This peri bottle ensures gentle cleansing after every bathroom trip, which is vital for preventing infection and promoting stitches care. Aim the stream from front to back, and just pat dry gently. It feels so much better than wiping! Then there's the dynamic duo for cooling and pain relief. Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads were my absolute best friend. These witch hazel pads are incredible for soothing swelling, pain, and discomfort, especially if you're dealing with hemorrhoids or stitches. I would layer a few directly onto my heavy overnight pads. Alternating them with Perineal Cooling Pad Liners provided an extra blast of relief – sometimes I'd even pop the liners in the fridge for a super cool sensation! And for even more targeted relief, the Frida Mom Perineal Healing Foam (or a good pain-relieving spray like Dermoplast) was amazing. I'd apply it directly to the area, and it gave such a welcome numbing effect, especially when swelling was at its worst. For me, the Frida Mom foam felt a bit more targeted, but a general pain-relieving spray is also fantastic for quick relief as needed. Let's talk about comfort and protection. Those hospital mesh underwear are okay, but Disposable Postpartum Underwear are a definite upgrade. They're snug, soft, and designed to hold those heavy pads securely without feeling bulky or irritating. Once my hospital supply ran out, I switched to these and never looked back. And speaking of pads, you'll need a variety! For the first few days of heavy bleeding, good quality Extra Heavy Overnight Pads are non-negotiable – I found ones that gave me full coverage and zero leaks. As things lightened up, Heavy Ultra-Thin Pads were perfect for comfort and discretion. Don't skimp on these; you'll be wearing them for weeks! Beyond the products, remember that good postpartum care also means being kind to yourself. Keep the area clean by using your peri bottle regularly, change your pads frequently, and don't be afraid to use all these amazing supplies as often as you need. Rest, stay hydrated, and nourish your body. It's a marathon, not a sprint, but with the right postpartum care products and a little self-compassion, you'll be well on your way to a comfortable recovery. These postpartum essentials truly helped me feel human again!

Apparently some people potty train their infants and use things to those peri bottles to rinse them off. Or use them to rinse them off while changing them. Didn’t know you could do that. But good advice/tip if so.
