God Ruin Book Review 💙

Title: God of Ruin

Author: Rina Kent

MCs: Mia Sokolov & Landon King

Format: KU

Review: I was definitely looking forward to Landon’s book when he was first introduced to us God of Pain. This man is probably the most narcissistic and egocentric person I’ve ever read in a book yet I enjoyed every second of it. This man learned sign language in less than a week for his muse. I was hooked from there. The way he is with Mia was so adorable and they brought out the best in each other. He truly was misunderstood and I loved that his character growth included not only Mia but he had growth with his siblings and everyone around him as well. Lan and Mia’s relationship was quite insane but I ate it all up. I also enjoyed the nuggets we were getting for the last 2 books in the series as well. Spice was QUITE spicy and kinky in this book as well but I will say that it felt a little repetitive to her other books. Don’t get me wrong, I did not mind reading it at all, but I did notice that most scenes were similar to previous books in this series. Highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good dark romance read.

... Read moreIf you're like me and constantly searching for the next dark romance obsession, Rina Kent's 'God of Ruin' is definitely one to add to your list. Beyond the initial review, there's so much to unpack about this book, especially when it comes to the specific elements that make it such a captivating read. First, let's talk about the tropes because they are spectacularly executed here. The 'Enemies to Lovers' dynamic between Mia Sokolov and Landon King is a masterclass in tension and undeniable chemistry. It’s not just a surface-level squabble; it's a deep-seated conflict that evolves into a powerful, consuming love. Then there's the 'Obsessive MMC' trope, which Landon King embodies completely. The iconic tagline, 'HE'LL RUIN ME. I'LL DESTROY HIM,' perfectly captures the intense, almost dangerous allure of their relationship. From his initial introduction in 'God of Pain,' I knew Landon was going to be a force, and his dedication, even learning sign language for Mia, truly shows the depth of his obsession in the best dark romance way. Speaking of Landon and Mia, their journey is far from straightforward. Landon starts off as incredibly narcissistic and egocentric, but his character growth throughout the book is remarkable. He doesn't just grow for Mia; his relationships with his siblings and those around him also mature. Mia, on the other hand, is his perfect match, bringing out a side of him that's both vulnerable and fiercely protective. Their relationship isn't always easy – in fact, it's quite insane at times – but that's what makes it so gripping. Their push and pull, their undeniable connection, makes them unforgettable main characters. Now, for the question everyone asks in dark romance: the *spice level*. Let me tell you, this book does not hold back! With a solid '5 chili peppers' rating, the scenes are incredibly spicy and kinky, living up to the expectations of Rina Kent's fans. While some might find elements similar to her previous works, I personally didn't mind because the intensity and passion were exactly what I was looking for. If you appreciate explicit and well-integrated intimate scenes that enhance the dark romance narrative, you'll be more than satisfied. For those wondering about *trigger warnings*, it's important to note that as a dark romance, 'God of Ruin' does feature themes that might be sensitive to some readers. While the original review mentions 'CTWs' (content trigger warnings), it's advisable to look up a more specific list online if you have particular sensitivities. Generally, dark romances can include themes of dubious consent, violence, power imbalances, and intense emotional manipulation. The book definitely caters to an adult audience, making its age rating firmly 18+ due to its explicit content and mature themes. Lastly, 'is God of Ruin a standalone'? No, it’s not. It's an integral part of the 'Legacy of Gods series,' and while it focuses on Landon and Mia, you'll find 'nuggets' (as the original review puts it) that connect to other books in the series. I strongly recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate the overarching plot and character development. Overall, with its compelling tropes, unforgettable characters, and intense spice, this 4-star read is a must-read for any dark romance enthusiast, especially if you're a Rina Kent fan.

This book def hit the top of my list it was actually rlly rlly good but I get what u mean that it felt repetitive. Like the spice scenes for example like the first half literally being the fmc being chased but other than that it was rlly good.

There is no other series that I love more than this series and the Ana Huang series
