A “cinema workout” is any workout, but usually cardio on a treadmill, elliptical, or bike where you watch a movie like you would at the cinema. These are especially helpful when you’re trying to go for distance/time as it’s a great distraction. My gym has one of these and it has REALLY helped with longer runs. Quick note: The rooms are usually dark just like at the cinema so it’s important to not just stare mindlessly at the screen (especially in a treadmill) and look down every 20 seconds or so for balance’s sake…you don’t want to get too distracted from your workout that you go flying off or fall!

Here was today’s workout:

Movie: Independence Day: Resurgence

Stretch/Warmup: 5 mins

Elliptical Trainer: 30 mins

Treadmill Run 5mph: 20 mins

Cooldown Walk: 19 mins

The run time is obviously longer than this workout; I came in after it started. This workout was fun and I barely even notice I was working out, highly recommend!

Many gyms have specialized rooms where you can watch movies on a treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike. By focusing your attention on the film, you can push through your exercises without feeling the time pass. This method not only helps with motivation but also allows for optimal performance during cardio workouts. When engaging in a cinema workout, it’s vital to pay attention to your surroundings. Ensure you glance down at the treadmill or equipment every 20 seconds to maintain balance and prevent accidents. This balance between focus on the screen and awareness of your workout environment is essential for safety. Start your workout with a good warmup to prepare your muscles. For instance, a 5-minute stretch or warmup followed by a 30-minute elliptical session can effectively elevate your heart rate. Incorporating different machines like the treadmill at a 5mph pace for 20 minutes followed by a cooldown walk helps create a balanced exercise routine that boosts cardiovascular health without overwhelming the body. Many have found that this immersive experience diminishes the mental barriers often associated with cardio workouts, enhancing overall performance. With movies like 'Independence Day: Resurgence' as your backdrop, you can transform mundane exercise into a much-anticipated activity. Next time you're at the gym, give the cinema workout a try and see how it affects your motivation and exercise duration. Not only will you be training your body, but you're likely to enhance your movie viewing experience too!
