Soul Ties & Bondage: How to Break Free

If you’re still thinking about someone from your past, even after years, this is for you.

Not all relationships end when you walk away. Some leave spiritual connections that must be broken.

If you’re struggling to move on after sex with someone, you may have a soul tie.

Here’s how to break it. 👇🏽

What is a soul tie?

A soul tie is a deep spiritual bond between two people.

They are formed through:

🔥 Sexual relationships (1 Corinthians 6:16)

🔥 Deep emotional connections

🔥 Spoken vows (“We’ll always be together”)

Signs of an unhealthy soul tie:

1.) You still think about them obsessively

2.) You feel spiritually tied to them, even after they’re gone

3.) Every new relationship is compared to them

4.) You feel drained, anxious, or empty after interacting with them

How to break a soul tie:

1.) REPENT & RENOUNCE the connection

2.) DESTROY any objects that tie you to them (gifts, letters, photos)

3.) VERBALLY break the tie in Jesus’ name

4.) PRAY for God to restore your soul (Psalm 23:3)

Prayer:

“I break every ungodly soul tie in Jesus’ name! I renounce every spiritual covenant that is not of God. I command every emotional and spiritual attachment to be destroyed NOW! I am free, healed, and restored by the blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.”

... Read moreI remember a time when I felt completely stuck, replaying old conversations and memories, even though a relationship had ended years ago. It was like an invisible chain was holding me back, draining my energy and making it impossible to truly move forward. That's when I started to understand what an unhealthy soul tie really meant. It's more than just missing someone; it's a deep, often unconscious, spiritual connection that keeps you bound to another person, long after the physical or emotional relationship has ended. For me, the signs were undeniable. I'd compare every new person I met to this past connection, and no one ever measured up. I'd feel an inexplicable anxiety or sadness out of nowhere, only to realize later it coincided with something happening in their life (even if I hadn't spoken to them). This constant mental and emotional loop, feeling spiritually tied, was exhausting. It felt like I was carrying a heavy weight, a kind of invisible 'bondage' that kept me from fully embracing my present and future. Breaking free from a soul tie isn't just about saying 'I'm over it.' It's a profound spiritual process, a cleansing of your inner self. When I realized the extent of my own soul ties, I understood that I needed to actively participate in severing these connections. The first step, 'REPENT & RENOUNCE,' was crucial. It wasn't just about saying sorry, but truly acknowledging that I had allowed this unhealthy connection to take root and that I was ready to let it go. It's about a sincere shift in your heart and mind, a declaration of your intention to be free. Then came the practical, yet deeply symbolic, step of 'DESTROYING any objects' that tied me to them. This might sound drastic, but for me, it was incredibly liberating. Old letters, gifts, photos – they all held energy, memories, and served as anchors to the past. Getting rid of them, not out of anger, but out of a desire for spiritual cleansing, felt like physically cutting those invisible strings. It creates a clear demarcation, telling your spirit that you are moving on. This act is a powerful way to 'cleanse soul ties' from your physical space and your emotional memory. Verbally breaking the tie through prayer was a powerful release. Speaking out loud, declaring your freedom in faith, makes it real. It's not just a thought; it's an active command to your spirit and to any lingering spiritual attachments to cease their hold. I found that personalizing the prayer, speaking my truth and my desire for freedom, made it even more impactful. Finally, praying for God to restore my soul wasn't just about healing past wounds, but about rebuilding my sense of self-worth and wholeness, preparing me to 'get over' the past and fully embrace the true freedom and peace I deserved.
