I love being tall
Growing up, being a 'lanky person' definitely came with its own set of unique experiences. I remember feeling like I was constantly outgrowing my clothes, or sometimes feeling a bit awkward in group photos. It's funny how something as simple as your height can shape so many childhood memories! I often heard comments about my long limbs, and while most were harmless, sometimes they made me feel a little out of place. But as I've gotten older, my perspective has completely shifted. What I once saw as a challenge, I now view as a superpower. I've truly come to embrace and even love being tall and having a lanky build. A big part of this journey has been realizing that my height, which I definitely 'got from my mom,' is a part of my unique identity. And the 'swag' – that confidence to own who you are – well, that's definitely something I've learned from my dad! It's not just about physical attributes; it's about the attitude you carry with them. One of the biggest game-changers for me was learning how to dress for my body type. It’s not about hiding your height, but celebrating it! Finding clothes that fit well, like high-waisted pants that actually reach my ankles or longline tops, made a huge difference in how confident I felt. I also discovered that certain styles, like oversized blazers or statement long coats, look absolutely amazing on a lanky frame. It’s all about playing with proportions and not being afraid to experiment. Beyond fashion, there are so many perks to being tall! Reaching items on the top shelf at the grocery store without a step stool is a small victory, but it’s a victory nonetheless! I also find that my height gives me a unique presence, whether it's in a crowd or just walking down the street. It’s an instant conversation starter sometimes, and it allows me to stand out in a positive way. For anyone else out there who identifies as a 'lanky person' and might be struggling to love their height, my biggest advice is to shift your mindset. Instead of focusing on what might feel awkward, celebrate the advantages. Think about the sports you might excel at, the unique fashion opportunities, or simply the ability to see over everyone at a concert! Work on your posture – standing tall with confidence makes a world of difference. And remember, true beauty comes from within, from how you carry yourself and how you embrace your authentic self. Every body is beautiful and unique, and your lanky frame is no exception. It’s time to rock your height with all the "swag" you've got!
