i am somehow okay at drawing yuzuru hanyu | daily drawing challenge (July)
July has been a MONTH 😭 I genuinely don't know how it flew by so fast but HERE WE ARE AT THE END OF IT???
I started off this month kinda slow and my head still can't wrap around the fact that it's ended but okay... I was saved by the power of Yuzuru Hanyu. I was going through it yall 🤡
I discovered this month that Diamine Writer's Blood is a fantastic combo with the Pilot Kakuno M??? It's so SMOOTH and I'm addicted to writing with it 😭 I also decided to try putting Pilot Iroshizuku into my Sailor PGS and strangely, it's not as scratchy as before which kinda messes up my cursive practice?? It's great for drawing tho!!
The month ending with the boys being back for Heated Rivalry Season 2 genuinely made my MONTH 😭😭😭 I've missed them 😭😭
I'll be boothing at 2 events in August!! pray for soul and sanity but that will be all my booths this year!! I'll be spending the rest of the year updating my online store and designing new merch 👀👀👀 so many ideas... so little time...
July was truly a whirlwind month for me creatively, and tapping into my admiration for Yuzuru Hanyu really helped me push through some tough moments. Drawing such a graceful and dynamic figure skater challenged my skills and gave my daily practice purpose and joy. I found that focusing on detailed expressions and subtle movements was key to capturing his essence, which improved my overall illustration techniques. Alongside drawing, I delved deeper into the wonderful world of fountain pens—specifically, the combination of Diamine Writer's Blood ink with the Pilot Kakuno M nib proved to be a revelation. The smooth flow and vibrant color made writing and sketching both pleasurable and inspiring. Interestingly, switching inks in my Sailor PGS pen affected the pen's feel, reminding me how subtle changes can influence artistic outcomes, especially during cursive practice versus detailed drawing. The return of Heated Rivalry Season 2 was another highlight. Seeing my favorite characters interact again reignited my creative spirit and motivated me to incorporate more storytelling elements into my work. Looking ahead, I’m preparing for two booth events in August, which is simultaneously exciting and nerve-wracking. It feels rewarding to finally showcase my art and merchandise in person after months of online updates and design efforts. Balancing creative growth with event planning has been hectic, but it’s pushed me to prioritize and streamline my workflow. Reflecting on this past month, I realize that embracing both challenges and inspirations—whether from fandoms like Yuzuru Hanyu or new artistic tools—helps me grow more confident in my art journey. For anyone juggling creativity and personal struggles, finding those sparks of motivation can truly make all the difference.
