Okay, so you've got the basic recipe for these incredible honey buffalo chicken tenders, but I've got a few extra tips and tricks that will take them from delicious to absolutely unforgettable! I've made these so many times for friends and family, and everyone always asks for my secrets. First off, let's talk about that crispiness. While the recipe is spot on, achieving that perfect crunch requires a little finesse. I always recommend a double dredge for extra crisp factor. After dipping your chicken tenderloins in the egg mixture, dredge them thoroughly in your flour/breader mix, then dip them back into the egg very briefly, and dredge them again in the dry mix. This creates a thicker, craggier coating that fries up beautifully. Also, ensure your oil is at the right temperature—around 350-375°F (175-190°C). If it's too cool, the tenders will absorb too much oil and be greasy; too hot, and they'll burn before cooking through. A meat thermometer or frying thermometer is a total game-changer for this! Now, about that honey-buffalo sauce! It's already fantastic, but don't be afraid to customize it to your taste. If you like it spicier, add an extra dash of hot sauce to the mix, or even a pinch of cayenne pepper. For a sweeter kick, an extra tablespoon of honey or brown sugar can do wonders. I sometimes like to add a tiny splash of apple cider vinegar to brighten the flavors, or a pinch of smoked paprika for an extra layer of depth. Taste as you go and adjust until it's perfect for you. And what's a plate of amazing chicken tenders without the perfect side? This is where the magic happens! I recently started serving mine with homemade Honey Cornbread, and it's a match made in heaven! The slightly sweet, moist cornbread is the ultimate counterpoint to the savory, spicy, and tangy tenders. The cornbread soaks up any extra sauce and just completes the meal. You can also pair these tenders with classic sides like crispy french fries, a cool and creamy coleslaw, or fresh celery and carrot sticks with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping. Don't forget, these are also phenomenal in wraps or on top of a fresh salad! If you're looking for a slightly healthier option, these tenders can also be made in an air fryer or baked in the oven. For the air fryer, spray the coated tenders lightly with oil and cook at 375°F (190°C) for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through. For oven baking, place them on a wire rack over a baking sheet, spray with oil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping once. They might not be quite as crispy as deep-fried, but they're still incredibly delicious with the honey-buffalo sauce. Seriously, give these a try with some Honey Cornbread—you won't regret it!
