iPad Apps for Nursing Students 🩺
Steal my apps and ace nursing school!
We know that nursing school is hard, and we are learning so much information. Here are the apps that helped me ace nursing school.
1. Simple Nursing- Nurse Mike is the GOAT; he literally taught me everything (more than the actual program itself). He breaks down the information in a super easy way to understand and has excellent mnemonics to help you remember the information. He offers NCLEX-style questions and cheat sheets for every topic, which you can download! This is a subscription, but it's 1000% worth it! (he usually has sales on holidays, and it's cheaper to buy for 1+ years instead of paying monthly).
2. Bookshelf—My school provided e-books instead of physical books, so we used this app for all our textbooks. I loved this because I could search for specific things without reading or searching the entire book. This app is free to use.
3. GroupMe- I love this app because we can create group messages for our cohort, clinical groups, and specific classes. You can also have 1-on-1 messages with people. It's just like texting, but you don't have to exchange numbers. This app is free to use
4. Canva—I love Canva for all of my creative assignments, such as infographics. This app is easy to use. There is a free and paid version, and the free version offers excellent options!
5. Osmosis—This supplemental resource is perfect for learning nursing content outside of class and helping you understand. It has tons of videos and NCLEX-style practice questions with rationales! You have to pay for a subscription for this app, but it also has deals during holidays and offers a free trial.
6. NURSNG.com- I love this app to really break things down if I don't understand and go into detail. They offer tons of videos for pre-nursing students, nursing students, new grad nurses, and nurses. They have NCLEX-style questions and cheat sheets to download. This is a paid subscription, and they have a free trial as well
7. Outlook- This is what my school uses for emails. I keep the app so I can stay up to date on what is going on (class info, time changes, etc.), and so I can email others quickly when needed
8. GoodNotes- This is the ABSOLUTE best note-taking app, IMO. I’ve tried others, such as notability, and I did not like them how I like GoodNotes. GoodNotes is more aesthetically pleasing to me personally. I use GoodNotes for literally everything. I use it for my digital planner to stay organized with my class, clinical, and assignment schedules. I use it to upload my PowerPoint from lectures and take notes directly on the PowerPoint. I use it for freeform notes and flashcards.
9. NCLEX app—This is a free app that offers NGN-NCLEX-style practice questions with rationales. I believe they also have a paid version that offers a larger question bank, but the free version worked perfectly fine for me.
10. Google Drive- I use Google Drive to organize and store all of my school documents, such as assignments, study guides, or anything school-related after the semester is over so that I can save storage on my iPad and MacBook. I take it completely off my Mac & iPad (unless it's on GoodNotes; I keep things in there but make a copy to save in Google Drive, so I know everything is in one spot). This saves so much storage space on my devices, and it is still easy to access via the app.
11. OneDrive- I use OneDrive the exact same way that I use Google Drive (this is just for backup, but I put everything on it as well). So, after the semester is over, I organize and store all of my school documents, such as assignments, study guides, or anything school-related, so that I can save storage on my iPad and MacBook. I take it completely off my Mac & iPad (unless it's on GoodNotes; I keep things in there but make a copy to save in Google Drive, so I know everything is in one spot). This saves so much storage space on my devices, and it is still easy to access via the app.
12. PowerPoint—This app is self-explanatory but easy to use on my iPad.
13. Word- This app is self-explanatory but easy to use on my iPad. I can write my papers, edit, view, and save them. I make sure to keep this on AUTOSAVE because nothing is worse than writing a nursing paper and you lose it ðŸ˜
14. Archer Review—This app is the absolute GOAT for passing the NCLEX the first time. The information is easy to grasp and understand, and the question bank is phenomenal; it looks just like the NCLEX. They also offer free content for nursing students for three or six months!
15. Quizlet—This app is great for making flashcards or seeing others' flashcards (but I would fact-check if using other people's flashcards). The repetition is great for nursing school!
