Productivity + Help

Okay, so I feel like I could use some advice in here.

For the context, I'm 28 yo. I'm coming back home after two years of living in the USA as an aupair. During this time, I've discovered my passion for photography, and I've been volunteering at my local church in order to learn more from this new hobby. I've talked to a lot of people and learned from them.

Now, the current situation: coming back home would be a hard brand new start because I'm not just leaving a life I've built in here, friends and my work as an aupair. I'm walking towards uncertainty and a reality where I don't have a job. And all this is not because of lack of planning or anything like that, it's because all and every single plan I've made for the future starting from my first year in this county have ended up falling into nothing or failing, for one reason or another.

I'm positive on everything happening for some reason, and maybe God's plans were not in those plans I've made. Otherwise, it would've worked. 😅

So, after facing all the negative thoughts and fighting about it. I'd decided to start being productive around the things I can work with and start creating my portfolio, a behance, updating my LinkedIn and starting posting on an Instagram account my work in order to try to pursue a career with my camera. In order to do that, I know I must have a presence in social media, but I'm not sure about how to start and being consistent with it.

I've started with a habit tracker for stay productive, but I would like to know what else I could do to start my photography business.

I would love to receive some advice and maybe a little bit of help with comments and experiences that can help me to start and get better on this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! 🥰

XO Shade.

... Read moreStarting a new chapter can feel overwhelming, especially when it involves stepping into the uncertain world of creative entrepreneurship like photography. The journey from hobby to business is often filled with trials, errors, and valuable learning moments. One of the essential steps is to establish a clear productivity system that supports both your creative and business goals. Using a habit tracker is a fantastic way to maintain consistency, especially when balancing multiple tasks such as creating content, engaging with audiences, and learning new skills. It's helpful to break your goals into daily or weekly achievable tasks—for example, deciding to post at least three photos per week on Instagram or dedicating time each day to edit your portfolio on Behance. Building your social media presence is crucial, but it can seem daunting without a plan. Start by identifying your target audience and the style that reflects your photography brand. Consider creating a content calendar that aligns with events, seasons, or themes to keep your posts relevant and engaging. Engagement matters, so make sure to interact with followers, join photography-related groups, and exchange feedback to grow your community. Another key to productivity and business growth is learning to leverage available tools and resources. Productivity apps combined with content creation trackers—like the ones mentioned in your context—can streamline your workflow and keep you motivated. Additionally, immersing yourself in photography communities, either locally or online, offers both inspiration and critical feedback. Volunteering and collaborating, as you've already experienced, provide excellent avenues for skill enhancement and networking. Don't hesitate to take on small projects to build your portfolio and credibility. Over time, these connections can turn into paid opportunities. Lastly, stay open to adjusting your plans. Just as you received insightful experiences from various people during your volunteer work, continuous learning and flexibility will help you navigate the unpredictable path of creative entrepreneurship. Remember, productivity is not just about being busy but focused on meaningful progress. In summary, nurture your passion with strategic productivity methods, consistent social media engagement, and active community involvement to successfully kickstart your photography career.
