how much i spent in jb ₊ ⊹

some comments for the places i went to for the first time (other than ah sheng lok lok)

📍tang retreat

been on my list for awhile, mainly for the massages + head spa. honestly a bit disappointed with their scheduling service. i tried calling + whatsapping 2-3 days in advance but was told to walk in on sunday. then at the counter, they said i could call on the day itself… which didn’t match what i was told earlier 🤷🏻‍♀️

✧ anyways, i got a lymphatic drainage massage 8/10 (service was good)

✧ amazing dessert post-service

✧ overall not bad, still would recommend y’all to try

📍full house beauty service

heard a lot about this nail salon on l8, and tried it for the first time

✧ no queue needed even tho the salon is v small

✧ staff was really friendly and professional

✧ note that add-ons costs extra: chrome +rm50, cateye +rm30, removal +rm20, overlay +rm20 etc

📍nailly’s head spa

was a bit skeptical at first, but since ppl are raving on l8 i gave it a try

✧ btr than expected, service was GOOD bc i think i was lucky enough to have the experienced staff, i even fell asleep mid-session

✧ hair came out soft and silky (loved it)

✧ the staff would try to upsell treatment products, you can jst politely decline (if udw)

📍kinsahi japanese restaurant

i was so excited to try to beef shabu, but was q disappointed with the broth bc it was v v sweet. the beef was 9/10 tho, overall wouldn’t recommend still

📍ah sheng lok lok 🫶🏼 (mi love)

literally my go-to spot, been there for over 10 times, it’s always consistent. super yummy, pls give it a try if you like lok lok and lala soup

✧ fresh lala, spice got kick

✧ generous portion

✧ wide selection of lok lok

✧ lok lok chilli sauce is to die for

okie that’s all, what’s your jb itinerary? 🥰

Firstly, Tang Retreat offers a great value massage and head spa experience, especially if you manage to get a slot without the scheduling confusion I faced. Their lymphatic drainage massage at RM178 for 90 minutes left me feeling refreshed and relaxed. Just be prepared to walk in or call on the day as their booking system can be a bit inconsistent. The dessert they offer after the session is a sweet bonus that you shouldn't miss. At Full House Beauty Service, the small nail salon may surprise you with its friendly and professional staff. I loved the vibe there and appreciated that there was no queue despite its cozy size. Although add-ons like chrome or cateye nail designs come with extra charges (ranging from RM20 to RM50), the quality made it worth it for me. It's a good spot if you're looking for a quick but polished nail service. For a head spa alternative, Naily’s Head Spa was a pleasant find. At RM90 for 90 minutes, the treatment exceeded my expectations. The experienced staff ensured a calming atmosphere, and the soft silky feeling of my hair afterwards was lovely. Don’t feel pressured to buy products during upselling attempts; just politely decline if you’re not interested. Dining at Kinsahi Japanese Restaurant was a mixed bag. While the beef for their shabu shabu was delicious (9/10), the broth was overly sweet, which was a letdown. So unless you enjoy sweeter broths, you might want to explore other menu options. My absolute favorite meal spot, however, remains Ah Sheng Lok Lok. Their generous portions of fresh lala and flavorful, spicy lok lok chilli sauce make this place a must-visit for street food lovers. Having been there more than 10 times, I can confidently say their consistency and taste keep me coming back. Transportation-wise, consider using Grab for convenient rides around JB. My return train ticket for a day trip was affordable, and Grab rides complemented my transfers efficiently. Overall, JB offers an exciting mix of affordable wellness treatments and delicious food experiences. Planning your itinerary around these spots can help you enjoy a memorable day without overspending. What’s your ideal JB itinerary?
