a few things I love about historical romance

I am manifesting a big year for the genre of historical romance and so am kicking things off by celebrating a few things I’m obsessed with rn 👀👀👀.

I am loving the leg trend in covers—look at these three all releasing this year!!—as well as illustrated covers getting spicier. I’m also feeling alpha heroines (okay, I WOULD because I just released a book with one, but it’s still true) and lots of spice (per usual—that’ll never change). I’m heartened that TikTok seems to have warned up a bit to historicals—let’s see more of that in 2026. I’ve wanted to have fun over there for so long and it finally seems like it may happen…

Anyway, happy 2026, and may your year be filled with oodles of spicy historical romance 🎉🥳🍾🥵🔥📖.
