Black History 24/7/365

Reflecting on the historical events surrounding Black Wall Streets—such as Tulsa, Wilmington, and Rosewood—provides profound insight into both the resilience and systemic challenges faced by Black communities in America. These Black Wall Streets were hubs of thriving businesses, elected officials, and prosperous neighborhoods that symbolized economic empowerment and cultural pride. Unfortunately, many were targeted by coordinated violence and destruction, often overlooked in mainstream narratives. From my own learning journey, understanding these histories has deepened my appreciation for the persistent efforts Black communities have made to rebuild and sustain economic independence despite systemic attempts to erase their progress. The destruction wasn’t limited to buildings—it permanently affected thousands of residents, destroying generational wealth and community infrastructure. Today, the fight is not only about remembering these places but also about recognizing ongoing efforts to revive Black entrepreneurship and political representation. Documentaries, social media accounts, and community projects dedicated to these historic sites help educate new generations and inspire activism. Engaging actively with this history encourages us all to support equitable economic opportunities and acknowledge the sacrifices made. By doing so continuously—24/7/365—we ensure Black history is integrated into our collective memory, empowering future generations to build on a foundation of resilience and justice.
