🇵🇷Puertorican Domplines and beans my way

Domplines (Dumplings and beans) a childhood favorite my grandmother would make and I got a random craving for it .. came out so good 🩷

Domplines Recipie:

1.5 cups all purpose flour

3/4 cups of water

1/2 tbsp baking powder

1tsp sugar

1/2 stick butter

salt to taste

Directions

Combine everything in a bowl

Let dough stand 10 minutes

roll out thin flat circles fry until golden brown

Puerto Rican🇵🇷 beans Recipie:

pink beans

Sofrito

Garlic powder

Onion powder

Bay leaf

Potatoes

Can of tomato sauce

Adobo

Squash

Directions

Add olive oil

Add Sofrito 2-3tbsp once fragrant

Add tomato sauce can

Beans cover with water or chicken broth

Dice potatoes and squash add that in

Season with garlic powder, onion powder, adobo bay leaf (season to our long)

Put on medium low let simmer until beans and potatoes cook

Imagine those soft dumplings soaking up the savory flavors of a stewed salted codfish. It's a more traditional, hearty dish, especially during certain holidays or for a really satisfying meal. You'd typically prepare the bacalao stew with sofrito, tomatoes, olives, and capers, then add the cooked domplines to simmer and absorb all that incredible taste. It's a whole different experience from the beans, but equally delicious! Then there's Domplines con Pollo (Domplines with Chicken). This one is perfect if you're looking for another protein-packed option. You can shred leftover rotisserie chicken or cook chicken pieces in a flavorful broth with your favorite spices, maybe some peppers and onions. Once the chicken stew is ready, you can either serve the domplines alongside it or even drop them right into the simmering stew to cook, similar to how Northern European dumplings are often prepared.
