Methods of exfoliation - Which one is best?!

Exfoliating is an important step of any body care routine, providing the removal of dead skin cells, increased product penetration, improved circulation & smooth skin.

So, which one is for your skin?

1. Dry Brush (pre-shower)

Best for:

• Stubborn Cellulite

• Increasing circulation

• Lymphatic stimulation

• Rough texture

Notes:

• May be too harsh for sensitive skin

• Use on DRY skin prior to showering

2. Silicone Body Scrubber

Best for:

• Hard to reach areas such as the back or lower legs

• Won’t trap bacteria like a synthetic loofah

• Very gentle exfoliation

• Perfect for sensitive skin

Notes:

• If you have extremely textured skin, use this in conjunction with the dry brush or wet dry brush on days you don’t use them

• Suitable for ALL skin types

3. Wet Body Brush

Best for:

• Deeper exfoliation

• Firm bristles remove buildup & rough texture

• Great for use on knees, elbows & back

Notes:

• Only use 1 to 2 times a week to avoid irritation

• Light pressure is all you need

4. Silicone Scrubber/Product Dispenser

Best for:

• Hygienic cleansing

• Will not trap bacteria

• Product dispensing

• Ultra gentle exfoliation

• Great for sensitive skin

Notes:

• Provides light exfoliation while creating the perfect bubbly soap lather

Esthetician Student Tip:

The “best” exfoliation for you is dependent on your own personal skin type. remember that over-exfoliation can be damaging to the skin barrier.

• Sensitive skin → Either silicone scrubber

• Rough, textured skin → Wet body brush

• For ingrown hairs, sluggish skin → Dry brush
