... Read moreHey fellow nail enthusiasts! I'm so excited to share my latest DIY nail adventure with you all. You know how sometimes you just crave a fresh manicure but don't have the time or budget for a salon visit? That was me last weekend! I decided it was time to give myself some gorgeous DONE NAILS right here at home, and I'm thrilled with the results. I've been seeing the 'rich girl nails' trend everywhere lately, and I just had to try it myself. For those unfamiliar, it's all about a super polished, clean, and understated look – often with a perfect nude, milky white, or, my personal favorite, a classic red. It’s that 'effortlessly chic' vibe that timelessly elegant women always seem to have. Think shiny, healthy-looking nails, often in a short to medium almond or oval shape, perfectly manicured cuticles, and a flawless, long-lasting finish. It’s less about wild designs and more about pristine, sophisticated simplicity. For my version, I opted for a beautiful, deep red nail polish. There's just something so powerful and classy about red nails, isn't there? They instantly elevate any outfit and make you feel put-together. When choosing a red, consider your skin tone. Cooler tones often suit blue-based reds (like a cherry or crimson), while warmer tones might lean towards orange-based reds (like a fiery poppy or coral). I went for a classic crimson that really pops! Achieving this 'rich girl' look at home, especially with a bold color like red, requires a few key steps for perfectly DONE NAILS: Prep is Everything: Seriously, don't skip this! Start by removing any old polish. Then, file your nails into your desired shape – I went for a soft oval. Gently push back your cuticles (don't cut them unless absolutely necessary, and only if you know what you're doing!) and buff the nail surface lightly to create a smooth canvas. Clean any dust with rubbing alcohol. Base Coat is Your Best Friend: This protects your nails from staining (especially with red polish!) and helps the color adhere better, making your manicure last longer. Apply a thin, even layer. Thin Coats of Color: This is crucial for avoiding streaks and bubbles. Apply two or three thin coats of your chosen red polish, letting each coat dry for a couple of minutes before applying the next. Patience here pays off! The All-Important Top Coat: A high-quality top coat will add that high-gloss, salon-like shine and seal everything in, preventing chips. I usually apply a generous layer and even wrap it around the free edge of my nail for extra durability. Opt for a quick-dry formula if you're impatient like me! Cuticle Oil for the Finish: Once your nails are completely dry, a drop of cuticle oil massaged into your cuticles and surrounding skin makes a huge difference. It keeps them hydrated and makes your manicure look super fresh and professional. I was so happy with my DONE NAILS that I felt like I'd just left a high-end salon, but without the high-end price tag! Doing your own nails is such a rewarding form of self-care, and mastering trends like the rich girl nails with a classic red can be incredibly satisfying. Give it a try – you might surprise yourself with how fabulous your at-home manicure can be!
