SAGYE | TRADITIONAL KOREAN POT RICE IN TOWN

visited the outlet at wheelock on a friday night! took a number and there were 16 groups in front of us but I could go walk around and they will send a message when its reaching my turn!

SCALLOP SOTBAP

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 5/5

this was my favourite! there was a sauce that came with this and loved how all the ingredients complemented each other when mixed! each mouth i took was a burst of flavours with the scallop, roe and clams!

KUROBUTA PORK SOTBAP

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 4/5

this was really flavourful too! the sauce provided for this was different from the scallop one, but it went well with the meat and gave the dish a deeper flavour profile!

the resturant provided a step-by-step guide on how sotbap is eaten and the last step was to leave some rice in the pot and let it soak in tea (poured into the rice pot upon request!) Apparently, eating nurungji after your meal helps with digestion!

... Read moreIf you’re new to Sotbap, it’s a traditional Korean dish served in a hot stone pot, which creates a delightful crispy rice layer called nurungji at the bottom. At SAGYE, they provide a step-by-step guide to fully enjoy this dish, including pouring tea over the leftover rice at the end. This practice is not just delicious but also aids digestion. From my experience, SAGYE offers a nice variety beyond the Scallop and Kurobuta Pork Sotbap, with options including beef sotbap that delivers robust flavors for meat lovers. The sauces served are thoughtfully paired with each dish, enhancing the natural tastes without overpowering them. What I also appreciate is SAGYE's efficient system—though there was a wait, numbering was done smoothly with a text alert for your turn, allowing you to browse nearby shops without worry. For those who want to explore authentic Korean pot rice dishes in Singapore, especially at Wheelock Place, SAGYE provides a comforting yet exciting meal. The combination of fresh seafood, quality pork, and traditional preparation methods makes it a must-try. Next time, I plan to try their BBQ options alongside the sotbap for a fuller Korean dining experience!
