Based on my experience trying various popular brands, I've learned that not every hyped product fits everyone’s skin needs. For example, Olay serums, particularly those containing niacinamide, felt extremely watery and failed to provide the hydration and glow I expected. Despite being fragrance-free, I noticed no improvement in skin tone or texture, which can be disappointing after consistent use. Sometimes, products that feel lightweight may not deliver the active ingredients deeply, so it’s important to test for both immediate feel and long-term effects. On the other hand, chemical exfoliants with salicylic acid, like a 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, really helped clear up my acne-prone areas, smoothened texture, and brightened my skin noticeably by the second week. Salicylic acid is well-known for unclogging pores and addressing both blemishes and uneven skin tone, making it a great addition to routines tackling acne and texture issues. When it comes to cleansers, the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser unfortunately caused dryness and stinging on my sensitive skin. This highlights the need to choose cleansers that maintain the skin's moisture barrier without irritation. People with sensitive skin should always look for fragrance-free, gentle formulas. Other widely loved products like The Ordinary’s serums didn’t work out for me; I experienced flakiness and dryness, showing that even affordable skincare brands may not suit everyone’s skin. Product ingredient lists and patch testing are essential steps before full application. Finally, Korean beauty tools such as Quia Zero Pore Pads proved effective in fading blackheads and unclogging pores, adding a convenient and efficient step to my routine. These pore pads offer an easy way to maintain clear skin without harsh scrubbing. Overall, my skincare journey taught me the importance of listening to your skin, understanding your unique needs, and not being afraid to discontinue products that don’t work. Consistency with suitable products tailored to your skin type will ultimately lead to a healthier, glowing complexion.
