Rating jobs I’ve worked in the past <3

Having worked in several diverse fields, I can truly say each job came with its own unique challenges and rewards. For instance, retail felt like a grind with low pay and micromanagement, but it did allow flexible hours if you’re a student, which is a small silver lining. Starbucks, on the other hand, was more enjoyable mainly due to the people I met and the occasional decent tips, though the physical demands like standing long hours and the pressure to keep up with the queue could be quite stressful. Security was perhaps my toughest experience—feeling uncared for, with no benefits, no upward mobility, and constant rule changes that made the job frustrating and exhausting. In contrast, my role as an admin assistant in the insurance sector was much calmer and rewarding, offering a chance to grow professionally. I felt much more appreciated and less stressed compared to food service or security jobs. Working as a medical assistant and phlebotomist was genuinely interesting and felt meaningful, though it could be emotionally and physically draining. Drawing blood and interacting with patients gave me a sense of purpose, plus it served as a stepping stone toward nursing roles if I chose to advance. This job, despite being overworked and underpaid in some sites, provided invaluable experience. Throughout these roles, the pay never seemed to keep up with the cost of living, especially in retail and security. However, experiences like Starbucks and medical assisting helped me develop interpersonal skills and resilience. When choosing a job, it’s important to weigh both the environment and growth opportunities against immediate pay and workload. I hope my honest ratings help others who are navigating their career paths, especially in tough economic times.
