... Read moreHey besties! Planning a Christmas photoshoot with your favorite people is one of the most fun things to do, especially during the holidays. After our own recent festive shoot, I just had to share some of my go-to "besties photoshoot ideas" to help you capture those perfect 'joy and friendship' moments. Trust me, you'll want to look back at these memories for years to come!
First off, let's talk themes and outfits. While the classic "black tops and blue jeans" combo (like we rocked!) is always a chic and easy option, don't be afraid to get creative. For a cozy vibe, think matching Christmas pajamas – imagine snuggling up on a "red velvet couch" with hot cocoa mugs! If you’re feeling more glamorous, coordinated festive dresses in reds, greens, or metallics can look stunning. The key is to coordinate, not necessarily match exactly, unless that's your group's style!
Now for the fun part: poses! This is where you really bring out your personalities.
Playful & Candid: One of my favorites is the "stacked on each other" pose, just like in some of our shots – it instantly brings out laughter and genuine smiles! You can also try whispering secrets, having a tickle fight, or fake-running through a snowy field. Candid shots often turn out to be the most authentic.
Sweet & Affectionate: For a more heartfelt feel, try leaning your heads together, holding hands, or giving each other big hugs. "Blowing kisses at the camera" is another sweet gesture that works beautifully.
Dynamic Group Shots: Get creative with your formations! One person in front with two behind, forming a triangle, or creating a human chain. If you have a prop like a string of lights, wrap yourselves up in them for a magical effect.
Props and backgrounds can elevate your photos significantly. Remember our "red roses background"? Flowers always add a touch of elegance, even for Christmas. Other fantastic festive props include:
Sparkly ornaments or a small, decorated mini-Christmas tree.
Gift boxes (empty ones work perfectly!).
Mugs of hot chocolate with whipped cream or marshmallows.
Fairy lights – drape them over yourselves or use them as a bokeh background.
Cozy blankets or throws for an indoor shoot.
Location, location, location! You don't need a fancy studio. Your home, especially if it's decorated for Christmas, can be perfect – think by the fireplace or a beautifully lit tree. An outdoor setting like a local park, a Christmas market, or even just a street with festive decorations can provide a gorgeous backdrop. The "red velvet couch" in a cozy room set the perfect "festive Christmas moment" for us!
Finally, tips for a smooth shoot: Don't stress! The most important thing is to have fun with your best friends. Put on some Christmas music, bring snacks, and just enjoy each other's company. Experiment with different angles and don't be afraid to be silly. If you're using a phone, make sure it's fully charged, and consider a tripod for group shots. Or, if you have a patient partner or family member, ask them to snap a few for you!
I hope these "besties photoshoot ideas" inspire your next festive gathering. Go make some incredible memories with your favorite "three young women" (or more!) and capture that amazing 'joy and friendship'!
