QUICK BREAD RECIPE!! Swipe to the end!

I ran out of bread yesterday, and I decided to finally try a quick bread recipe I had saved. Typically making bread is a daunting task for me, based on how long it takes, but this recipe is so much simpler and quicker. The dough came together easily in my Kitchen Aid stand mixer, and this is the best sandwich bread I’ve ever made!

Making mine, I substituted the milk for water and the butter for vegetable oil, just to use what I had on hand, and I did let the loaves cool completely before cutting.

Let me know if you try this recipe!! It’s my new favorite!

... Read moreIt's so easy to fall into the trap of thinking homemade bread takes *forever*, right? For the longest time, the idea of spending hours kneading, waiting for dough to rise, and then finally baking was enough to send me straight to the grocery store. But discovering a truly fast bread recipe, like the one shared here, has been a total game-changer. It challenged my perception that 'bread long' always meant a multi-hour commitment, proving that delicious, soft, homemade sandwich bread can be ready much quicker than you'd expect. One common question I get after sharing my quick bread adventures is, 'How long does homemade bread actually last?' It's a great point because while making it is now faster, we want to enjoy those golden-brown loaves for as long as possible! Typically, homemade sandwich bread, especially one with that lovely soft, airy texture, stays fresh for about 3-4 days at room temperature. To extend its life, I've found a few tricks. First, always let your freshly baked loaves cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Cutting into warm bread allows moisture to escape, making it dry out faster. Once cooled, store your sliced loaf in an airtight container or a large resealable bag. For longer storage, freezing is your best friend! Slice the bread first, then stack the slices with parchment paper in between before freezing in a freezer-safe bag. This way, you can just grab a slice or two as needed, and it thaws perfectly for toast or sandwiches. Beyond the basic recipe, it’s fun to experiment! The original post mentioned clever substitutions like water for milk and vegetable oil for butter. I've tried adding a spoonful of dried herbs like rosemary or a sprinkle of garlic powder to the dough for a savory twist, which is fantastic with soups. For a slightly sweeter bread, a touch of honey or maple syrup can be added along with the liquid ingredients. And if you're curious about the 'nutritional information' of your homemade creations, there are many online calculators where you can input your specific 'ingredients' to get an estimate – it's fascinating to see! Thinking about 'equipment,' while a stand mixer like a KitchenAid makes the dough process incredibly easy, you can absolutely make this by hand too. Just be prepared for a bit more arm work! Good quality baking pans are also crucial for achieving that perfect golden-brown crust. And don't forget the importance of 'proofing' – even with a quick recipe, giving the yeast enough time to work its magic (whether it's a shorter rise or an overnight fridge proof for more flavor) is key. Sometimes, an 'egg wash' before baking gives the crust an extra beautiful sheen and helps with browning, which is a simple step to elevate your homemade sandwich bread. This 'Fast Bread Recipe' truly opens up a world of possibilities without the daunting 'long' process.
