when i went to visit my derm, he mentioned that i should not be wearing any makeup to avoid distrupting my skin barrier when its having its purges.
so i obliged thinking it would be a short term thing. days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. i never had a chance to feel good about myself again.
in school, i would constantly wear a mask (which made things worse) And i would hide with my friends out of everyones eye view as much as possible.
so much so that i believe none of my classmates from Uni can even remember me…
but i understand your struggles, when you KNOW that leaving your skin bare is the best decision but its also so so hard when you have other commitments like school or work.
thankfully, my current skincare routine not only gets rid of my acne but also allows my skin to feel glowy. friends have even complimented me mentioning that my skin has been getting glowier!!!
if you’re interested to know more or even just have a chat, my dms are always opened!
just remember that acne is temporary! everything is. you’re beautiful , always. 🥹

One thing that helped me was resisting the urge to cover up with heavy products which might worsen the purge. Instead, focusing on gentle skincare with ingredients that support the skin barrier made a huge difference.
Also, I noticed that wearing masks frequently actually aggravated my skin irritation, so giving my face breaks, when possible, was important. For those worried about sudden bare skin appearance in public, experimenting with subtle skincare glow boosters and natural remedies helped me feel more comfortable without full makeup.
Using virtual try-on apps can be a great way to test different looks without impacting your skin health. I found trying different eyebrow shapes virtually helped me consider new styles like the straight Korean brow without commitment. As for product choices, if you’re clumsy with makeup, investing in sturdy packaging like Bobbi Brown might save you from frequent replacements.
Remember, a makeup purge is temporary and protecting your skin’s natural healing process is key. Opening up to friends or online communities about these struggles made me feel less alone. Your confidence will come back stronger once your skin heals, and your beauty shines from within. Don’t hesitate to reach out for support or advice during this time!
this is my situation rn.. but for me it's more of acne scars rather than acne itself, I can't go out without makeup bc I have so much hyperpigmentation due to acne scars and I feel so insecure and ugly if I do not cover them before going out
