WARNING SUPEERRR LONG
So this is like 2 days after the arguments. So I don’t think I mentioned this but the start of April I moved in with my brother Carl and his girl kelly. Kelly told me that she feels like Carl needs more friends because he seemed lonely like now that he has a baby they seem to distant themselves from him. So I agreed that my boyfriend (let’s call him sanchez) and my brother Carl can hang out and be friends since they are both so similar in interest. We started making play days sounds silly but they are very shy and I bought them legs so they can play and chat while me and Kelly went out to get food. They are pretty close and the same day she mentions that since Carl and Kelly want to get married they want me to be the bridesmaid and him the best man. We were super happy and agreed to have more play days.
The more we went over we started to open up about problems at home I want to be more independent and Sanchez wants to be more free from his strict family. The 3 of us talked for hours about our personal problems she opened up about abuse growing up and just moving around a lot causing her to fail a lot of school. I don’t know how we got to it but Kelly brought up the idea that me and Sanchez should move in with them. We agreed and that same night the hours we were talking I saw Carl walking around the house getting stuff and taking care of the baby.
Then suddenly he picked up the bag of laundry and left with the baby he seemed angry about something. She seemed to have blame herself that because we were talking for hours she forgot about the baby and he’s upset that the 5 hours we talked she left all responsibilities to him. We empathized with her because like it seems like he has anger issues and she’s the one who gets the blame and we went to the laundromat to talk to my brother and he seemed very calm he said he just wanted to clear his mind is all. I moved in bought a bed and tv stand and just supplies for the house.
But little by little like days and weeks of being there I noticed something off. When I wake up I see Carl cleaning the house, taking out the trash,cleaning dishes,picking up after her food and still giving her his card for spending. I thought well maybe he doesn’t want to put too much pressure on her after all she did give birth like 7 months ago. But then I also noticed her very much demanding. There was one night me and her were cooking and we needed 1 pot that was dirty she was so kind and soft spoken but all of a sudden there was a switch in her. My brother was putting the baby to sleep (he cleaned the entire house before he left to work on a horrible job place to work like almost all fast food places and it’s the only one in town so it’s always heavy plus they make him work overtime) and
she yelled at him “CARL I NEED THE DISHES CLEANED HOW AM I GOING TO COOK IF ALL THE DISHES ARE CLEANED!!!”
He responded soft spoken to not wake up the baby “I’m sorry I didn’t have time”
Kelly:WELL MAYBE IF YOU BOUGHT MORE POTS AND PANS WE WOULDN’T HAVE THIS PROBLEM
Carl:we need to buy other stuff that’s more necessary
Kelly: I DONT KNOW WHERE THIS ADITTUDE IS COMING FROM
Kelly then dropped what she was doing and left to the sofa on her phone I hear him talking over to the sofa
Carl: look can we talk about this tomorrow..
then kelly starts crying that he doesn’t care about her and how she’s under a lot of pressure.
ABOUT THE TEXT ABOVE:
the whole month I talked to my mom about this like I’ve been seeing it happen so constantly like it’s every day something pissed her off and when he would defend himself she would start crying and call us telling us he’s yelling at her. Sometimes I didn’t want to go back to their house because it’s just every day she yells at him and it hurt me seeing him treated that way but I couldn’t stand up for him all I did was take the baby to the next room so he can’t hear the argument. She said she would have a talk with him again. She had told him “if you can’t take care of the baby or if that baby grows up with yelling around him bring him over”
My mom has has 10 kids 5 from another man and 5 from my dad her other 5 kids disliked her and never gave her a chance to connect with the grandkids. My brother Carl left the baby with her for the most part and she’s never been so attached to anyone but this baby and she hasn’t been doing well since the argument because she’s worried for the baby.
Living under the same roof as Carl and Kelly, I've had a front-row seat to their struggles, and it’s been incredibly tough to watch. The constant arguments and Kelly's demanding nature raise serious questions about the future of their relationship. I often find myself wondering, is this just new parent stress, or are these deeper cracks that will eventually lead to them breaking up? It's not just the big blow-ups; it's the subtle ways Kelly dismisses Carl's efforts and the emotional toll it seems to be taking on him. I've seen how Carl tries so hard, cleaning the house, taking care of the baby, even working a demanding job, yet it never seems to be enough for Kelly. This kind of imbalance can slowly erode even the strongest bonds, and I truly worry about how much more Carl can endure. My mom’s concern, especially about the baby, really amplifies the gravity of the situation. Knowing her history, how she missed connecting with some of her other grandkids, makes her attachment to Carl's baby even more poignant. She's constantly asking how the baby is, and I can literally feel her fear that she might never see him again if things go south between Carl and Kelly. It breaks my heart to think she feels she's already missing out. She even texts Carl to see if he wants to bring the baby over, showing just how much she craves that connection. Her worry isn't just about her own feelings; it's about the baby growing up in a home filled with yelling and tension. She’s made it clear, “if you can’t take care of the baby or if that baby grows up with yelling around him bring him over,” which is a huge statement coming from her. From my perspective, it feels like Kelly uses her emotions, particularly crying, as a way to control the situation and deflect blame. It's a pattern that's hard to ignore, and it leaves Carl in a no-win situation. He tries to be calm and accommodating, but she escalates the situation, often leaving him speechless or apologetic for things that aren't his fault. This kind of emotional manipulation is a huge red flag for me, and I've seen how it can destroy trust and intimacy in a relationship. I often think about what advice I'd give someone in Carl's position, or even my own. It's so hard to intervene in family drama, especially when a child is involved. But ignoring the problem won't make it go away. For now, I try to be a silent support for Carl, and more importantly, a shield for the baby when the arguments start. It’s a delicate balance, but witnessing this firsthand makes me believe that open communication and perhaps even professional help could be the only way for Carl and Kelly to truly address these deep-seated issues before their relationship truly collapses, or worse, before the baby is more deeply affected by the constant conflict.
