Your week doesn’t start with your workout…👇
it starts with how you prepare for it.
1️⃣ When you rush into your runs
Take 5–10 minutes to warm up. Drills, strides, mobility. Set the tone early.
2️⃣ When you ignore your sleep
Recovery starts the night before. Better sleep = better training.
3️⃣ When you don’t fuel properly
What you eat (and when) affects how you feel on every run.
That’s the difference.
Prepare first.
Then train.
Then improve.

In my experience, the foundation of a successful running week truly lies in how you prepare before you even lace up your shoes. Starting with a proper warm-up routine is essential — dedicating 5 to 10 minutes to drills, strides, and mobility exercises really wakes up your muscles and joints, reducing the risk of injury and improving your overall running form. Another often overlooked factor is the quality of your sleep. Recovery doesn’t start after your run; it starts the night before. I found that prioritizing 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep allows my body to repair itself, restore energy, and improve mental focus, all of which contribute to more effective training sessions. When I don’t get sufficient sleep, my runs feel harder, and recovery takes longer. Proper nutrition timing also plays a huge role. Eating balanced meals with the right mix of carbs, proteins, and healthy fats helps maintain steady energy levels throughout the day. Personally, I avoid heavy meals immediately before running but ensure I’m fueled enough by having a light snack 30 to 60 minutes prior. Hydration is equally important — drinking enough water daily helps prevent fatigue and keeps muscles working efficiently. Combining these three elements — warm-up, rest, and fueling — changed the way I train. Instead of pushing through tiredness or rushing, I prepare first, train smart, and notice consistent improvements. Lastly, embracing a positive mindset and community support, such as encouraging others with hashtags like #RunLikeAGirl and #TrainSmart, makes the journey enjoyable and motivating. If you’re serious about improving your running week, focus on these preparation steps, and you’ll see the difference on every run.
