Sometimes the bar falls…👇
but that does not mean you do.
1️⃣ When you come up just short
Do not call it failure. Call it proof that you are getting close.
2️⃣ When adversity shows up
You can either let it shake your confidence or sharpen your belief.
3️⃣ When the goal does not happen today
Reset, keep working, and come back stronger. The athletes who rise highest are the ones who do not quit after the miss.
That’s the difference.
Bounce back.
Stay brave.
Keep rising.

Everyone experiences moments when things don’t go as planned, especially in athletic pursuits like running or high jump. From personal experience, I’ve found that setbacks are simply signals of growth rather than final failures. When you come up just short of a goal, it’s important to frame that moment not as defeat but as a step closer to success. For instance, missing a personal record by a small margin means you are pushing your limits — something to be proud of, and a foundation on which to build. Adversity, as the quote “Adversity is not the end of the story...” reminds us, doesn’t have to define your journey. It’s a choice whether it shakes your confidence or strengthens your resolve. I recall times during intense training when unexpected injuries or tough competition could have derailed my motivation. Instead, choosing to focus on what I can control, resetting my goals, and maintaining a positive outlook helped me sharpen my belief and continue progressing. The mindset of “bouncing back” is essential. Successful athletes and individuals are not those who avoid failure but those who refuse to quit after setbacks. It means resetting your approach, learning from what happened, and persisting with renewed determination. This cycle of effort, failure, reflection, and renewed effort is what drives true growth. If you’re struggling to stay motivated after a disappointing result, consider adopting small, actionable steps, such as celebrating incremental progress, maintaining a supportive community, and using motivational tools like affirmations or visualization. Running "like a girl" or running with a mindset of strength and bravery empowers you to face challenges head-on. Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. Each time the bar falls down, it is an opportunity to rise higher. Keep pushing, stay brave, and keep rising. You’ve got this!
