Most runners think they need more effort…👇

What they really need is less wasted movement.

1️⃣ They tense their shoulders as the pace increases.

Relaxed runners use less energy and finish stronger.

2️⃣ They overstride trying to go faster.

Fast runners push behind them—they don’t reach farther in front.

3️⃣ They wait until race day to fix bad habits.

Champions build great form in practice so it shows up automatically in competition.

These mistakes are easy to miss…

…but they are just as easy to fix.

Run smoother.

Waste less energy.

Keep getting faster.

... Read moreMany runners don't realize that subtle inefficiencies in their form can drain energy and limit performance. From personal experience, focusing on reducing wasted movement transformed my running journey. One key insight I learned is the importance of staying relaxed, especially in the shoulders. Early in my training, I used to tense up when trying to run faster, which quickly exhausted me. Learning to consciously relax my upper body helped me conserve energy and maintain pace longer. Overstriding was another mistake I made. I believed longer strides meant faster speed, but it actually caused me to brake slightly with each footfall. Shifting my focus to pushing off strongly behind instead of reaching out in front improved my cadence and efficiency. Perhaps most importantly, I discovered that waiting until race day to address bad habits leads to inconsistent results. Incorporating form drills and mindful running practices into daily workouts built muscle memory, so proper running mechanics felt natural during competition. By paying attention to these often overlooked details—such as shoulder tension, stride length, and consistent form practice—you can run smoother, reduce wasted energy, and ultimately get faster. This approach has changed my running experience for the better and I encourage others to embrace it too. Remember, running like a girl means running smart, strong, and confident. Consistent small improvements add up to big gains over time. Keep practicing these tips and watch your running performance soar.
