🌲⛰️🧡 Tripping out 🧡⛰️🌲
I was raised on the West Coast. Is it that obvious? Born and raised in LA county, and in the summers I bounced back and forth between grandparents in UT (my new home) and ID. My dad moved to UT in 2014 or so and I moved up as well after I graduated high school.
My family loves Yellowstone in WY and the Oregon coast, where I one day plan to move because my great grandma was born out there. It’s gorgeous. Easily my favorite state I’ve visited. The trees, the crisp air, the feeling of it all, I love it.
My most recent non-home trip took me to Kauai with some of my dad’s family, and I did not expect to see the chickens! The beaches were absolutely gorgeous and I saw many turtles and seals. I even explored a chocolate farm and a coffee bean farm. It was so much fun, though I’m likely not going back due to the toxicity of tourism culture. Many residents have expressed their distaste for us mainlanders visiting, so I don’t want to contribute to a system that perpetuates a vicious cycle. It was beautiful, 10/10, but I don’t want to be part of the issue.
My next upcoming trip will likely be to New Orleans. I’ve been before twice but I’ve always loved going. The food, the culture, the music in the streets, the history. It’s amazing. What I wouldn’t give for a seafood boil and bread pudding right now, I have no idea. I bought my first pair or platforms at this goth store called Roadkill and I wear them, like, everywhere. I cannot wait to go back and live it up!
One of my best friends who lives in IA is getting married in the Spring and we’ve never once met in person. We’ve known each other for 10 years and I can’t believe the first day we’re meeting is her wedding day. I am thrilled to see her in real life as opposed to over FaceTime. She means a lot to me and to be there for her special day means the world to me.
By the way, I’m totally counting layovers. I had Whataburger in the Dallas airport and that’s gotta count for something right? I did also have a 6 hour flight delay in Denver but I’d love to have gone out and explore, had it not been at 2 in the morning.
