best FREE christmas activities (college edition)

if you’re traveling to nyc this year for the holidays or you live here these are some fun ideas that won’t break the bank if you are broke (like me)

1) Lotte Palace is a swanky hotel that you may recognize from gossip girl, they do a fantastic christmas set up every year, and it’s worth checking out

2) 5th ave, in general 5th ave is a NIGHTMARE anytime of year but especially during christmas. however it is the best street to walk to see all the lights and decor, if you don’t have anywhere to be, take a stroll and look at all the store displays (louis vuitton has an exceptionally cool one this year)

3) Saks light show, okay don’t kill me but they actually aren’t doing the light show this year 😭 apparently they are broke like we are and can’t afford to do it this year, they’re still doing window displays but it’s just NOT THE SAME

4) Rockefeller, if you think 5th ave is bad ROCKEFELLER IS WORSE (I promise i’m not this war on christmas) im just trying to prepare you for the hardships you will face if you venture to this part of midtown. but I will say it is a stunning tree, its nice to see and take a picture but then get the heck out of there cause you will be swallowed by the crowds.

5) Radio City, They do a nice little display it’s also an iconic spot to see on your nyc trip.

Hope these inspire you for your nyc trip! all im saying is beware of crowds!! and be visual of your surroundings.

... Read moreNew York City transforms into a winter wonderland during the holiday season, offering numerous free events and activities perfect for college students on a budget. Notably, the Lotte Palace offers stunning Christmas decorations, making it an excellent photo opportunity for Instagram enthusiasts. 5th Avenue, although notoriously crowded, is famous for its elaborate window displays and holiday lights that captivate visitors each year. Checking out these displays is a must-do for anyone wanting to soak in the festive atmosphere. Even though the Saks light show will not be operational this year, visitors can still enjoy the beautiful window decorations, which are an art form of their own. Another iconic spot is Rockefeller Center, where you can marvel at the towering Christmas tree and enjoy the live performances of the Radio City Rockettes, a NYC holiday tradition. While the crowds can be overwhelming, experiencing these spectacular sights creates lasting memories. To navigate efficiently, plan your visit during off-peak hours and stay aware of your surroundings, ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday outing in the city.

I think this is just site seeing. There are no activities shared just where they put the lights
