my favorite vanilla scents (from a college girly)

I am not joking when i say these are the best smells for you and for your dorm.

summer fridays has always been my go to lippie, and the vanilla beige smells absolutely heavenly

this vanilla essential oil is a new addition and let me tell you is the only vanilla scent you need, since it’s an oil there’s a million and one ways for you to use it.

I use it in my hair, lotion, diffuser… you can also dilute it with coconut oil for a body shine too

almond croissant candle, this isn’t technically a “vanilla scent” but it smells so cozy and clean. if you’re allowed to have candles in your dorm this one is fantastic to mask the general “dorm” smell.

... Read moreOkay, so you already know how much I love my vanilla essential oil for everyday glow-ups, but seriously, this stuff is a total game-changer, especially for college life! I've been experimenting even more and wanted to share some extra tips and tricks I've picked up. If you're wondering how to really get the most out of your vanilla essential oil, or even if you're just starting out, you're in the right place. Beyond the basics of hair, lotion, and diffuser, have you ever thought about making your own DIY vanilla body spray? I mix a few drops with distilled water and a tiny bit of witch hazel in a small spray bottle – perfect for a quick refresh between classes or before a study session. It's so much nicer than those overpowering commercial sprays, and you know exactly what’s in it. I also love adding a drop or two to my laundry dryer balls for a subtle, comforting scent on my clothes and bedding. Imagine your bed smelling like a cozy vanilla dream! And it's not just about smelling good! Vanilla essential oil is known for its calming and mood-boosting properties. When I'm feeling stressed with assignments, diffusing it in my dorm (if allowed!) really helps create a more relaxed vibe. If I can't diffuse, I put a drop on a cotton ball and tuck it near my study space – instant aromatherapy! For a quick pick-me-up, I sometimes just take a gentle whiff directly from the bottle. It’s amazing how a simple scent can shift your entire mood. Speaking of essential oils, it's super important to pick a good quality one. When I got mine (from places like Amazon), I made sure to check reviews for purity and look for brands that specify '100% pure' or 'therapeutic grade.' You want to avoid synthetic fragrance oils, which won't give you the same benefits. Good quality oil usually comes in a dark amber or cobalt blue bottle to protect it from light, which helps preserve its potency. Always check the label for ingredients and if it needs to be diluted. I generally dilute mine with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil before applying to skin. Just a quick safety note: always do a patch test if you're new to applying essential oils topically, and remember a little goes a long way! Store your bottle tightly capped in a cool, dark place to keep it fresh. I keep mine in a drawer away from direct sunlight. This helps maintain its effectiveness for longer, saving you money in the long run. Another fun thing I've tried is making vanilla-scented sugar scrubs. Just mix sugar, a carrier oil (like coconut or almond), and a few drops of vanilla essential oil. It's a fantastic, natural exfoliator that leaves your skin feeling super soft and smelling divine. Or, for a quick room freshener, put a few drops on a felt pad or cotton ball and place it in your closet or even inside your trash can (just make sure it’s not directly on plastic) to combat any lingering odors. Trust me, these little hacks make dorm life so much more enjoyable and fragrant!
