what i’ve been struggling with at college🫣

1. wanting to move to chicago

chicago is super close to home and there is another school there that i’ve been back and forth on transfering to. i’ve made countless pro’s and con’s list and I can never seem to fully figure out if I want to try and take that path or not.

2. missing my hometown

I’ve missed home so incredibly much, and I didn’t think homesickness could affect me as much as it has. my job at home has allowed me to be apart of my community in so many different ways and i’ve created so many different friendships and memories, it’s very hard to let all that go and start a new chapter in a big city where I have none of my family or friends around.

3. not knowing what career I want/what I want to do with my degree

this one I feel like is a big thing for so many college students. i’ve wanted to go into fashion for as long as I can remember, but somewhere along the line I stopped loving it. I’ve been evaluating my goals and what I want out of my career and fashion hasn’t been my driving force recently. And it truly scares me, because that could be the potential for me trying something completely new which is very stressful for someone who likes to have her entire life planned out.

4. missing my friends and family

this one is such a big one that its basically on here twice. my family is super close and a great support system, so not having them there is super hard. my bestfriends are my people I go to for everything and they know every single detail about my life. we face time constantly but it’s not the same as getting to hang out with them everyday. they are my literal support humans and I miss them tons.

a reminder that i’ve been trying to tell myself lately is my whole life doesn’t have to be planned to a ā€œTā€. I’m just now turning 20 and I have time to take my life into a few different directions if I so choose, I don’t have to get a degree in fashion, I could do something completely different, I’ve really been loving social media and managing local businesses accounts, maybe I go into that? or not at all its all up in the air but this is truly the time to try everything and anything I want because your 20’s are for exactly that.

speaking from experience….transfer!!! move to chicago!!! I currently live in chicago, and have my whole life. I moved to wisconsin for college my first semester and absolutely hated it. I went back and forth for weeks about transferring. I transferred to a school in illinois, outside of chicago……
