where I work! as a college student (home on break)

i’ve been working at my local coffee shop in my hometown since my junior year of highschool. i’ve built amazing friendships here and made countless connections here. there’s truly a community here and i’ve watched so many friendships grow from this place. before I started working here I was a regular who came in all the time to do homework and talk with friends. my boss is the sweetest human on the planet and is more of my work mom than anything, she’s helped me decide basically every big event in my life recently. our schedules are incredibly flexible and there’s never any pressure to work a certain day or not. it’s so sad that I only get to work when I’m on break but I’m also so glad that I get to. I get to see all my regulars who’ve all become my family and truly mean the world to me.

... Read moreWorking in a coffee shop has become a rewarding experience for many college students, offering flexible schedules that fit around classes and exams. Coffee shops frequently serve as social hubs in their communities, allowing students to bond over their shared love for coffee while providing an opportunity to network with local patrons. These environments can prove beneficial for both personal and professional growth, fostering friendships that extend beyond the workplace. Many students also learn valuable skills in customer service, time management, and teamwork while navigating the fast-paced atmosphere of a busy cafe. The connections formed in coffee shops can often lead to mentorships and career opportunities after graduation, making this job a stepping stone for many young adults. Additionally, taking on a part-time job during college breaks allows students to manage their finances and gain independence, which is crucial during their formative years. Whether serving regulars or engaging with new customers, each shift presents a chance to create memorable experiences and form lasting relationships.
