3 solo activities for the winter (college edition)
some solo activities so you aren’t stuck inside all season!!
I get really bad winter depression so it’s super important to keep busy.
1) find a new breakfast spot.
become a regular at a cozy little spot, you can make new friends and there’s something about having a “usual” coffee order when you go in somewhere. it really makes my day.
2) find collectables to get obsessed with.
lately i’ve been obsessed with jelly cats and sonny angels. I love going to different stores around the city to find them and it keeps me occupied. not the most money conscious hobby but it does the job
3) explore the city
when all else fails get lost in your own city. it’s so fun to explore a new place and maybe you’ll stumble across your new favorite spot?

Winter can be challenging, especially for college students susceptible to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Staying active and engaged can significantly improve your mood. One of the best ways to combat winter blues is to explore your surroundings creatively. Start by seeking new breakfast spots; not only can you enjoy delicious food, but finding local favorites fosters a sense of community. Consider visiting local cafes or restaurants that you’ve always passed by. Becoming a regular at a cozy spot means you’ll often see familiar faces, which can be comforting on cold winter days. Another great way to occupy your time is by collecting unique items. This can be anything from plush toys like Jellycats and Sonny Angels to vintage collectibles. Searching shops across your city can provide an exciting adventure and a purpose to your outings, making the cold weather feel a little more bearable. Lastly, embark on explorations within your city. Whether it’s an unknown street or a popular landmark, new discoveries await at every turn. You might find hidden gems like artisan shops, gardens, or local events that showcase your city's winter charm. Taking advantage of your free time to explore, collect, or indulge in leisurely breakfast outings can reshape your winter experience into something fulfilling and enjoyable.
