create a top with me! as a college student✨🎀🤍

my last class of the week is 3 hours long and my favorite class! we have begun working in illustrator to create a variety of tops and dresses. it’s been so fun and cool to see my designs take shape. not to mention my professor is so fun and makes the time fly by. today we worked on a woven shirt and looked how to make different parts of the shirt, we learned a variety of new terms and got to really be creative with it!

... Read moreCreating fashion designs in college can be an exhilarating experience, especially for fashion students diving into tools like Adobe Illustrator. The ability to visualize and bring to life unique pieces is crucial in developing design skills. In your fashion classes, the journey often begins with understanding design fundamentals, including fabric selection, color theory, and basic sewing techniques. In this creative process, using programs like Illustrator makes it easier to draft, modify, and present your designs with precision. When conceptualizing a top, students typically start with sketches, moving onto digital formats where they can explore different styles - from casual wear to more intricate designs with collars and sleeves. Learning how to create a woven shirt is a fantastic project to grasp essential construction concepts, and experimenting with sleeve styles, like puff sleeves, can bring fresh, trendy vibes to your collection. Collaboration and feedback from peers and professors can significantly impact your learning trajectory, so processes that include critiques are invaluable. By sharing your work in class discussions or online communities, such as using social media hashtags like #fashionstudent or #designstudent, you can foster engagement and receive constructive feedback. As you progress, don't forget to document your creations, whether through a portfolio or on social media platforms. This approach not only showcases your skills but also helps you build a personal brand in the fashion industry. Embrace the creative journey, and remember that every piece you design enhances your portfolio and your experiences as a future designer.
