ranking nyc workout classes from a college student
some of my favorite pilates classes i’ve taken in the city! ✨🩷🎀💪
1) BK Pilates
9/10, they have a few studios around the city and it’s such a beautiful studio. i’ve done classes in flatiron and nomad and both the instructors i took them with were super nice and really helpful in correcting form. it was really such a nice community!
2) Form50
10/10, such an incredibly hard workout tbh. they use mega reformers so not classical pilates. i would describe it more as hitt and super super core focused. but its always a great workout that leaves me dying afterwards (this is a good thing) and the instructors are so so nice!
3) Solidcore
7.5/10, another hard one, done on a mega reformer. i’ve only taken a few here so I can’t say too much. the workout itself is good almost too hard but you have to build up to it. the instructors were fine, im pretty sure one time the instructor was really late butttt nyc transportation is a nightmare so I get it.
4) Power Pilates
9.5/10, if you’re looking for truly classical pilates you’ll find it here. they are really big on instructor training which is what i’m aiming for so they use the true classical reformer with the leather straps which is an interesting experience. but the workout is so so good and you really learn how to do moves with perfect form.
5) Barre3
10/10, i’ve just started going to barre classes in the west village and I love them!! they are a mix of hitt, pilates and yoga. the studio is so cute, everyone there is so sweet and overall a great workout.
