Best friend would’ve been 22

On September 9th one of my best friends was born. We went to high school together and he met in our FFA chapter. The first became friends when I was maybe a sophomore/junior and ever since then there was a group of 4, we were inseparable. Then we went to college and one of my best friends, younger sisters was having a quinceanera and we didn’t know that was the last time you were going to see her. She sadly passed almost 4 years ago and this past Monday she would be 22 💛💛
Losing a close friend is an event that leaves a lasting impact, often prompting us to reminisce about shared experiences and celebrate their life in new ways. As we gather our family and friends to honor their memory, it’s important to reflect on the milestones that define their journey. One means of remembrance is to commemorate significant dates like birthdays, which can evoke both joy and sorrow. In remembering those we love, consider creating a memorial tradition, such as planting a tree in their name or hosting a gathering where stories can be shared and memories cherished. Social media can also provide a platform for remembrance; sharing photos and messages can help express grief and celebrate a friend's life. Exploring local community events, such as charity runs or remembrance days, can bring connection through shared experiences with others who are also grieving. Utilize tools like journaling to capture thoughts and feelings about your friend, enabling a healing process while strengthening your personal bond with their memory. No matter the way we choose to remember, it’s essential to celebrate their impact on our lives and the lessons they imparted. The loss is profound, yet by honoring their life, we keep their spirit alive and ensure they remain a part of our stories.
