Let’s Talk- Lip Filler

NOTE: This is purely my experience with filler! I am not a med spa nurse or injector in any way!

Let’s talk about lip filler!

I was always very self conscious about my face, especially my lips. I hated the shape of my lips as well as the size of them. I was very nervous to get anything done to my face, so i tried pretty much everything— over lining, pushing them out, I even got a lip flip to see if it would help but it didn’t give me what I was looking for. Last year, I finally pulled the trigger and got filler.

The first/ second photos are my very first session -before and after. We did one syringe!

I absolutely love my filler. For the first time, I felt so beautiful and confident… I can’t believe it took me so long to try it!

There are definitely a few things to keep in mind though! One is the swelling and bruising. For the following days after my treatment, I experienced very noticeable swelling and bruising. It also affected how sensitive they were which makes eating a little different since you’re trying very hard not to bump your lips. I spent most of these days icing my lips and taking it easy to control the swelling. It eventually went down but it’s definitely very scary if you don’t know what to expect! It’s also a bit expensive… my lips cost $600 per treatment.

This is definitely something you have to be financially in a good place because touch ups are expensive. I get mine done every 8-10 months just because they slowly dissipate, and I usually have to do a full treatment (syringe) at that time.

Additionally, although you may have inspiration photos, you have to keep in mind that lip filler will look different on everyone. Luckily nurses are typically very knowledgeable and can advise you of this during a consultation, but it’s important to be open and understand that lip filler isn’t magic and your results may not look exactly like someone else’s!

Overall, personally, I do not regret them in any way. I’ve truly never felt more beautiful or more womanly. It might sound dumb but it’s so true!! Although I don’t believe anyone ever NEEDS anything done, I’m always for women doing whatever they want so long as it makes them happy! Lip filler can be done to look very natural and can truly enhance your looks, if you feel it’s best for you! Make sure you do plenty of research to find a nurse and med spa that fits your needs/ results. I always use instagram to scope out before and after photos from injectors to ensure I like their work, so I recommend doing that as well!

... Read moreAfter my own journey, which truly transformed how I feel about myself, I realized how much specific information is out there that I wish I'd known upfront. For instance, many people search for 'botox lips,' but it's crucial to understand that Botox and lip filler are actually quite different treatments! While Botox works by relaxing muscles to smooth out wrinkles around the mouth, or even for a 'lip flip' to subtly evert the lip, lip filler, typically made of 'hyaluronic acid,' directly adds volume, shape, and definition to the lips themselves. My personal experience was specifically with hyaluronic acid filler, which gave me the natural-looking yet fuller lips I had always envisioned. During my deep dive into research, I also stumbled upon concerns like 'migrated lip filler' and the possibility of a 'hematoma after lip filler.' It was a bit alarming, but my fantastic injector, who I'll call my 'Aesthetic Nurse Emily' for this example due to her incredible skill, thoroughly explained how proper injection technique and choosing a high-quality product significantly minimize these 'hazards.' She emphasized that finding a highly skilled and experienced professional is paramount to avoid undesirable outcomes like 'uneven lips' or excessive initial 'swelling' and 'bruising.' My 'lip filler treatment' did involve some initial 'swollen lips' and even some 'red spots,' as seen in my own 'before and after' photos, but being prepared for this temporary phase helped me through it, knowing my 'healed lips' were just around the corner. The visual of the 'syringe' during the procedure was a quick moment, leading to long-lasting results. One of the biggest takeaways from my journey is that 'lip filler' isn't a one-size-fits-all solution; it’s highly customizable. When I first considered it, I wondered about specific volumes, like what '0.5ml lip fillers on thin lips' would look like versus '1ml lip filler thin lips.' My injector patiently walked me through how different amounts achieve varying levels of enhancement, from a subtle hydration boost to a more noticeable 'big lips filler' effect. We also discussed different popular techniques, such as the delicate shaping of 'butterfly lip filler,' the defined cupid’s bow of 'mini russian lips,' or focusing on balancing shape with 'lateral lip filler.' It's all about what complements your facial structure best and having an open, honest conversation with your 'Aesthetic Nurse' or injector about your aesthetic goals to ensure a result you'll love. The initial recovery after the 'lip filler treatment' felt like a marathon of icing to manage the 'swelling' and 'bruising.' I made sure to follow all aftercare instructions diligently. It’s also vital to remember that these hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary and naturally dissipate over time, making regular touch-ups a part of the long-term 'lip filler cost.' Typically, every 8-10 months, I plan for a maintenance treatment to keep my lips looking their best. The confidence boost from my 'healed lips' truly makes it worth the investment. And for anyone considering this, whether you're looking for a subtle enhancement or a more dramatic change, remember that lip filler isn't exclusively for women. There's a growing interest in 'mens lip filler' too, often aimed at restoring lost volume, defining the lip border, or achieving better facial symmetry. The core principles of safety, aiming for natural-looking results, and selecting a highly skilled practitioner remain consistent for everyone, regardless of gender. Ultimately, my 'hyaluronic acid lips before and after' journey has been overwhelmingly positive, bringing a newfound sense of 'beauty' and self-assurance. Always do your thorough research to find a reputable med spa and an injector whose work you admire!
