Pray over my son
Our first baby was a girl. I felt ready this time, but nothing prepared me for how different it feels to have a boy. To have to know how to raise a boy. I pray that if I do nothing else, I raise him to be a man after God’s own heart. Here are the prayers that we pray over our Holden Crew.
1. Prayer for Guidance: "Heavenly Father, I ask for Your guidance in my son's life. Grant him wisdom and discernment in every decision he makes. May he always seek Your will and find direction through Your Word. Protect him from harm and lead him along the path of righteousness. Amen."
2. Prayer for Strength and Courage: "Lord, please grant our Holden strength and courage to face life's challenges. Fill him with resilience and fortitude, so he may stand firm in his beliefs and overcome obstacles with grace and humility. Help him to be brave in the face of adversity and to rely on Your strength. Amen."
3. Prayer for Peace and Joy: "Lord, I ask for Your peace and joy to fill my son's heart. In times of uncertainty and stress, grant him calm and assurance. May he experience Your joy in everyday moments and carry Your peace with him wherever he goes. Help him to find contentment in Your presence and spread that joy to those around him. Amen."
4. Prayer for Character and Integrity: "Lord, I ask that You shape my son's character and instill in him a strong sense of integrity. Help him to be honest, kind, and compassionate in all his interactions. May he reflect Your love and truth in everything that he does. Let all that he does be for your glory, God. Amen."
5. Prayer for Purpose and Fulfillment: "God, I pray that You reveal Your purpose for my son's life. You have placed qualities on the inside of him that are meant to glorify You. Help us to steward those qualities in a way that honors You. Guide him in discovering and pursuing his passions and talents. Help him to find fulfillment and joy in the path You have set for him, and may he use his gifts to serve others and bring glory to You. Amen."
Becoming a boy mom truly opened my eyes to a new dimension of parenting and prayer. While I always prayed for my children, the unique joys and challenges of raising a son made me realize how deeply I needed to pray for his protection in every aspect of his life. It’s more than just keeping him safe from physical harm; it’s about guarding his heart, mind, and spirit. I constantly find myself praying for God to watch over my son, shielding him from negativity, harmful influences, and anything that could steer him away from his true purpose. In today's world, there are so many things that can try to pull our children in different directions, and I believe a parent's fervent prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have. I pray for divine protection against anxiety, fear, and the pressures of conformity. I ask God to place a hedge of protection around him, spiritually and physically, guiding his steps and choices daily. Sometimes, when faced with overwhelming concerns or hearing about the struggles other children face, I turn to powerful scriptures for reassurance and guidance in my prayers. The story in Matthew 17:14-18, where Jesus heals a boy suffering, often comes to mind. This passage reminds me of the powerful intervention God can provide when we bring our deepest concerns to Him. It's a reminder that no challenge is too great for His power, and our prayers can move mountains for our children, just as the father sought Jesus for his son's healing. It’s not just a story; it’s a living testament to faith and the power of intercession. My prayers for my son aren't just about avoiding trouble, but about building resilience and character. I pray for wisdom to discern threats, courage to stand firm in his beliefs, and an unshakeable faith that protects him from within. It's about entrusting him daily to God's mighty hands, knowing that He is his ultimate protector and guide. These prayers for protection complement the prayers for guidance, strength, character, peace, and purpose that I regularly offer. They form a spiritual armor, preparing him to navigate life's complexities with grace and confidence. Every day, I lift up my son, asking for God’s hand to be upon him, to grant him courage when he feels overwhelmed, strength when he faces challenges, and protection from all evil. It's a continuous act of love and faith, believing that these heartfelt prayers truly make a difference in shaping the man he is becoming. We, as praying parents, have the incredible privilege of interceding for our children, and knowing that we do, brings immense peace.
