I am not a painter or an artsy person but lately I’ve been trying to learn. I have a type of anxiety called “panic disorder” and it’s very rare that I actually reach a state of “flow”.
The ghost I painted was inspired by a painting from an artist I follow named “clumsy wizard art”, so I tried to recreate the same look, but the rest of the painting was inspired by my own creativity.
I just graduated from college so I never had the time before to try new hobbies or actually partake in an activity without having a timer on.
During this painting, I finally felt nothing, no anxiety, no gut feeling, no bad thoughts, and my dog was right next to me outside on the deck. I am glad I did this today because I haven’t been in this “flow” state for a long time, I finally felt like I was having fun while being myself 🩷
Based on my own experience, I would recommend for those with anxiety to try this one day, especially if you have prolonged anxiety and are constantly dealing with an unregulated nervous system (being stuck in fight or flight). I don’t think my nervous system has felt this calm for a long time.
