Buffalo Chicken Dip Wontons
I made them one year for New Year's Eve now I'm responsible for having them ever year. Even meme loves them. A turn on your average wonton.
Ingredients
2 block, Wonton wrappers
23 cup, Hot sauce
3 cans, Canned chicken
1½ cup, Ranch
2 cup, Shredded cheese
2 blocks, Cream cheese
Canola Oil
1) Wonton wrappers can be found at your local grocery store, I found it typically has 40-50 in a pack so for a average batch of buffalo chicken dip usually make about 2 packages of wonton wrappers
2) First you wanna make your buffalo chicken dip, everyone makes it different so do as you please but this is how I make mine!
3) Shred your canned chicken, then add hot sauce ranch shredded cheese, and cream cheese(soften) all to a bowl and stir until mixed well.
4) We aren't cooking the dip so just set aside! I found I like to chill mine for 30 minutes for it to be a little stiffer while I form my wontons
5) After chilling, you'll grab a teaspoon and your wonton wrappers along a dish with water in it to seal your wrappers once this is gather you are ready to wrap!
6) There's plenty of ways to wrap wontons you can find online, find your favorite and from there you will scoop a teaspoon or so amount on the wrapper, and wrap accordingly.
7) After you've went through all your wrappers. You will next a pan and fill it to a point where you can place wontons in and they are submerged. You can use your choice of oil I use canola.
8) Heat your oil up according to wonton wrapper. I don't have a thermometer so I use a wooden chop stick trick and put it in the oil if it bubbles it's ready!
9) Place 4-5 depending how big your pan in and fry until golden! Scoop out and place on paper towel lined plate or dish. Do this until everything is fried!
10) Once you are all fried, you're all done! The buffalo dip cooks within the wonton leaving your bite nice and gooey and crunchy all at the same time!
Buffalo chicken dip wontons have become one of my favorite go-to appetizers, especially when hosting gatherings or casual get-togethers. The combination of creamy buffalo chicken dip inside a crispy wonton wrapper is an irresistible twist that adds a crunchy texture unlike traditional served dips. One tip I’ve found helpful is chilling the buffalo chicken filling before assembling the wontons; this firms up the mixture, making it easier to handle and less likely to leak during frying. When it comes to frying, using canola oil works great because of its high smoke point, but you can also use vegetable or peanut oil as alternatives. If you prefer a healthier version, baking the filled wontons at 400°F for about 12–15 minutes until golden and crisp can be delicious too—just spray with a little cooking spray to help them crisp up. The wooden chopstick bubbling method for checking oil temperature is simple yet effective for home cooks without a thermometer. Another personal favorite is experimenting with the spice levels in the buffalo chicken filling. Adding more or less hot sauce lets you customize the heat to your liking, and serving with extra ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side enhances the flavor experience. These wontons are also incredibly versatile; you can swap canned chicken with shredded rotisserie chicken or even use pulled pork for a different twist. Overall, buffalo chicken dip wontons provide a fun and tasty way to elevate a classic dip into finger food that everyone will love. Whether it’s New Year’s Eve, game day, or just a casual snack, they always impress and disappear fast!
