DORM ROOM ESSENTIALS

After my first year in college, I can confidently say what is a necessity (or something really nice to have) in your dorm room!

- shower shoes are a MUST!! ESPECIALLY if you are sharing a shower with someone else (or have communal bathrooms)

-my dry erase calendar saved my life! I used it to keep track of due dates and exams!

- I loved having a nightstand since nothing is next to your bed in the dorm to hold your alarm, chargers, etc! Just make sure you get one for the height of your bed!

- a shoe rack is just good for organization and storage! I kept mine right in my closet!

- christmas lights are SO MUCH BETTER than LED lights and they don’t tear off your paint! Just hang them up with some command strips!

- a mattress topper is amazing since the dorm beds are SO uncomfortable!

- these specific storage bags were great for moving in and are crazy sturdy!!

- of course, command strips! And make sure to buy extra for throughout the year!

- a fan is essential, especially if you dorm doesn’t have AC! Even if it does, it is still very helpful to have!

Lmk your guys’ dorm essentials!

One of the best ways to ensure a smooth transition is to have the right dorm room essentials at your fingertips. These items not only help you settle in but also create a comfortable and organized living space. Shower shoes are crucial, especially in shared bathrooms, as they protect against germs and provide comfort. Additionally, having a dry erase calendar is a game changer for keeping track of assignments and deadlines. In the compact environment of a dorm, space-saving furniture like a nightstand or a shoe rack can make a significant difference in organization and accessibility. Lighting is also essential for creating a cozy atmosphere. Opt for string lights instead of harsh LED lights, which can be unappealing and may damage the walls. A mattress topper can transform a hard dorm bed into a more comfortable sleeping surface, ensuring restful nights. For storing belongings, look for sturdy storage bags that make moving in easier without sacrificing durability. Finally, a small fan is indispensable, particularly during warmer months, to help maintain a comfortable climate in your dorm room. With these essentials, you’ll not only thrive in your college environment but also enjoy a lived-in yet organized space that makes your dorm feel like home.
